We Have The Skinny on This Illinois House

Ever roll up to a house and think, “Dang if this house wouldn’t be better if it was skinny?”

Now, I’m not advocating fat-shaming a house (except for this one that I firmly believe is too much even for Texas), but I do wonder what your hard stops are on how svelte or how zaftig a house can be.

I started thinking about this after someone slid this into my emails last week — a house with some skinny going on, but then not?

I’ll let the real estate listing (the Deerfield, Illinois, home is now off the market) explain.

” You Can Now Own Deerfield’s Famous ‘Pie House!’ This Iconic Home Is Larger Than Appears, With Over 1600 Square Feet Of Living Space Including The Finished Basement.”

“Larger than it appears?” you may ask.

Let me explain.

Now, from this elevation, you’d think this house is a joke. I mean, who can live in a house this skinny?

But remember, this house has almost 1,600 square feet. Where do they put it all?

My friends, this house has a little junk in its trunk.

According to the listing, the home has two bedrooms and three baths and is shaped like a pie wedge (hence the “Pie House”).

“How,” you may ask, “does that work exactly?”

Well, it appears you have to be OK with living in a home where none of the rooms are square and some are uh, very skinny.

The listing says it’s close to a lot of shopping and entertainment (which is good for when you tire of showing visitors how you can hang a picture while doing the splits using the walls and your body as a human level), and that it would be perfect for empty nesters (who probably, come to think of it, be less prone to the shenanigans I mentioned just now).

It would also be perfect for people who hate symmetry.
