What’s The Opposite of Beige? This Vibrant Elmwood Home.

When Listing Agent Reggie Walker was preparing the description for our Tuesday Three Hundred, the only request the homeowners had was that he call it an “urban oasis” because it undeniably is.

Set on over a half-acre in one of the oldest neighborhoods in Dallas, you can’t even see the home from the street. For one, there’s a creek in between Elmwood and the property and for two, there’s a big old chunk of trees.

It’s private and serene out front and out back.

And let’s talk about that back. There’s a Parent Trap pool surrounded by greenery. It’s impossible to believe you’re in Dallas, but you are.

You’re not far from downtown, either, which is where one of the homeowners used to work. Then his office moved. Far. Like really far. Like up in Frisco far. And after a while even your love of this incredible home cannot sustain that commute. So these two wonderfully creative partners are headed north. And they’re leaving behind a home filled with color and style.

When they moved in seven years ago, the living room was orange and it’s remained. Since then, Chris and Joe have updated the space and added even more color. Like the blue tile vanity in the bathroom, the sunny yellow piano room, or the calming kitchen cabinets paired and with the funky eye border.

They’ve added their own vibrant touch everywhere and it’s so, so, so nice to see something that’s not only lively, but wonderfully well put together.

They have a chicken coop because they can and they collect eggs every day. Walker said the chickens can stay with the house or if the new owners aren’t feeling the Green Acres vibe, they have a new coop waiting for them, too.

Walker calls Elmwood “traditional with a midcentury feel” and all the sliding closet doors and lower ceilings add to the cozy charm of that era.

One final story about the current homeowners:

Walker first toured Elmwood through a Broker Open House. He took one look around and called his clients. “I found your house,” he said. “Awesome, we’ll take a look in two months,” they replied. “No, you have to look now.”

Joe and Chris headed over that day and followed up their showing with an offer. Moral of the story? Well, there are two:

1. Always attend Open Houses.

2. When you have an amazing agent that totally gets you, listen to them. You just might find the house of your dreams.

This local charmer at 2005 Elmwood is currently listed for $385,000. It’s three bedrooms, two baths, 1,912 square feet, and completely fabulous. If you want to take a look, give Reggie Walker with eXp Realty a call.
