Kevin Alter of Alterstudio Architecture in Austin will deliver the third-annual Frank Welch Memorial Lecture. Join The Dallas Architecture Forum on Wednesday, Jan. 29, at 7 p.m. in the Horchow Auditorium for an unforgettable night. Part of the Dallas Architecture Forum’s lecture series, this event celebrates the life and career of architect Frank Welch, AIA, the Dean of Texas Modernist Architecture.

Kevin Alter and Alterstudio

Kevin Alter founded Alterstudio Architecture in 2002. He also serves as the Richardson Centennial Professor of Architecture and Associate Director of the Center for American Architecture and Design at The University of Texas at Austin.

The editor of a dozen books, Alter has also published his own writing in Architecture and Architectural Design. In addition, he curated 16 exhibitions for numerous venues internationally and organized many symposia. He served as a visiting professor at Columbia University and the Favrot Visiting Professor at Tulane University. A popular lecturer, Alter speaks at institutions around the world. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame for Design Excellence in 2018.

The Frank Welch Memorial Lecture honors the legacy of one of Dallas’ architectural pioneers. The Dallas architecture community fondly remembers Welch for his kindness and generosity and widely regards the visionary as having given shape to modern Dallas.

Tickets cost $20 for general admission and $5 for students. No reservations are required for the lecture. Forum members receive free admission to all regular Forum lectures as a benefit of membership. AIA members earn one hour of CE credit for each lecture.
