Like when a chef who says his famous recipe was made with love, there’s something special about a home built by a builder who plans to live there with his family.

Like when a chef who says his famous recipe was made with love, there’s something special about a home built by a builder who plans to live there with his family.

And, I mean, you haven’t really lived until you’ve had a 500-bottle wine cellar, a yoga room, tennis courts, your own koi pond, and a greenhouse, right?

This luxury lease at 4656 Meadowood in Dallas rents for $19,000 a month – or just drop a cool $7 million and the entire 13,220-square-foot mansion is yours.

Resting on a three-acre lot in the posh Preston Hollow neighborhood, this home was built by Talmage Tinsley in 1987 for his personal use.

What’s special about it, said Realtor Christine McKenny of Allie Beth Allman & Associates, is the acreage and spacious rooms.

“It’s very private, even in the winter, when all the foliage is on the ground,” McKenny said.

Wish list

If a potential homebuyer – or even a renter with big dreams – made a list of all the bells and whistles they could dream of in a home, this one would deliver, and then some.

To say the home is luxurious is an understatement. It’s the home of a celebrity or at least a very wealthy person, but it also has some accouterments that show life being lived and family bonds being built.

Clearly Tinsley, the builder envisioned an active lifestyle, what with the tennis courts, sauna, and yoga studio. The wine cellar, serene location, wet bar, and oversized fireplace say “rest and relaxation. His and hers closets and his and hers bathrooms in the master suite show that some thought was given to privacy and making one’s own space.

The four-bedroom, five and one-half bathroom sprawling estate offers so much room for guests, the owners genuinely won’t know they’re there. There is even an area of large living quarters over the garage, perfect for a long-term visitor.

Cheesy as it may sound, this home was built with love.

“The wood was hand-carved in Denton, Texas,” McKenny said. “It was built by a builder who was going to live in it.”

The home has only had two owners.

Nearby amenities

As if you’d ever need to leave this palatial dwelling, there are plenty of options for a night out on the town. Five-star restaurants, unique custom clothing shops, and The Toy Maven children’s store are in this ‘hood. Preston Royal, Preston Center, and NorthPark Center also an Uber ride away. Neighbors include Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban and former U.S. President George W. Bush; the late Ross Perot also owned a home in the area.

If the owners are willing to share this amazing home with youngsters, they’ll be attending one of many private schools in the area. Those who opt for Dallas ISD public schools can go to Walnut Hill Elementary, Edward H. Cary Middle School or Thomas Jefferson High School.
