It’s a great season for viewing Dallas open houses, before it gets boiling hot and everybody goes on vacation.

Every Thursday, we bring you the CandysDirt.com Open Houses of the Week column. These are the properties in Dallas (and the ‘burbs from time to time) you shouldn’t miss! This week, our houses range in price from $450,000 to $989,900. Which ones will you visit?

PRESTON HOLLOW TRADITIONAL WITH OVER 3,000 SQUARE FEET, SWIMMING POOL

Open house: Sunday, May 27, 2-4 p.m.

We’ve found a lovely family home in Preston Hollow for under $1 million with a swimming pool at 6817 Deloache Ave. This warm traditional has four bedrooms, including two masters, three bathrooms, and 3,141 square feet on one story, built in 1951.

The curb appeal is great with mature landscaping and trees and the floorplan is well-appointed with recessed lights, two fireplaces, and hardwood floors in the common areas. The kitchen two pantries, a custom wine cabinet, stainless steel appliances, and views of the pool and patio from the breakfast nook. A nearby cozy sunroom has a shiplap ceiling. A formal dining room has a wall of cabinets. Behind-the-scenes updates include a newer tankless water heater, electrical panel, and paint. The backyard offers multiple seating areas, covered storage, an electric gate, swimming pool, 8-foot board-on-board privacy fence, sprinkler and mosquito misting systems.

This home was listed May 22 by Harriet Holiday with Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage — Dallas for $989,900.

DISNEY STREETS CONTEMPORARY ON OVERSIZED LOT FOR UNDER $1M

Open house: Sunday, May 27, 2-4 p.m.

The Disney streets have seen a lot of changes in recent years, like the 2010 build at 4030 Sleepy Ln. This sleek contemporary is lovely with three bedrooms, two full bathrooms, one half bath, two living areas, and 2,720 square feet on one story, sitting on an oversized lot facing Northaven Trail.

The curb appeal is killer and the floorplan split with the the master on west end and secondary bedrooms on east end. Some amenities include foam insulation, low-E windows, tankless water heater, heated floor, mirror TV in master bath, three-car garage, floor-to-ceiling windows, clerestory glass, and Brazilian bamboo wood floors. The kitchen is a delight with a large island, flat-front rich wood cabinets, pot filler, gas range, and wine cooler. The master bath has a freestanding tub and frameless glass shower. In back, find a fire pit and privacy fence.

This home was listed May 21 by Eva Kaplan with Ebby Halliday Realtors — Preston Center for $799,000.

WINNETKA HEIGHTS CHARMER WITH VINTAGE FEATURES, SLEEK UPDATES

Open house: Saturday, May 26, 2-4 p.m., and Sunday, May 27, 2-4 p.m.

We love the North Oak Cliff neighborhood of Winnetka Heights because of the adorable houses like the one at 109 S. Montclair Ave. It marries the vintage charms of a 1925 Craftsman with more modern touches in three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and 1,754 square feet on one story.

The owners have switched around the floorplan, making the front space with its fireplace and built-ins into the dining areas. The middle room is now the living area. In the kitchen, they’ve updated with a breakfast bar island, banquette seating, granite countertops, white cabinets, and a gas cooktop. The beautiful hardwood floors carry throughout most of the house, as do recessed lights. All three bedrooms are good sized and the master bath has a clawfoot tub. In back, find lots of grassy green space, a covered deck, and wood privacy fence.

This home was listed May 23 by Robert Arredondo with Ebby Halliday Realtors — Preston Center for $450,000.

Greetings, Candy et al – As it happens I’m holding open 6505 Stichter Avenue this Sunday, May 27 and truly believe it warranted consideration for this column. With 5,434 square feet, 4 or 5 BR, 3.5 BA, pool, lush side yard, three car garage, totally updated (built in 2000 so not an old house) on a large corner lot in the heart of Preston Hollow at, get this, $1,150,000, it is among the most intriguing values in Zone 11, and as stated, smack dab in the heart of Preston Hollow. No doubt I shall hold it open again soon if it does not sell right away. Will you please reply with the protocol for receiving consideration for this column? MLS # 13825073 and get this: it’s priced at just under $212 per square foot. Glorious first floor master suite with fireplace, second BR and BA down–please check it out. I surely hope to hear back soonest. Candace, any chance for a mention on Saturday (tomorrow) or Sunday? 🙂

    Best Regards,
