Charming Lakewood Colonial Revival Updated and Expanded

Our Inwood House of the Week at 6941 Lakeshore Drive is a Lakewood Colonial revival-style home that appeals to our sense of nostalgia in a big way. The Colonial style has never lost favor, it’s just been adapted and reinvented every decade to suit changing lifestyle needs and design trends. For instance, this 1952 Colonial Revival features a Craftsman-era entry porch. It just serves to further enhance the all-American flavor and make you feel right at home.

The house was updated and expanded by the Bella Vista Company several years ago and now boasts 3,388 square feet, five bedrooms, and four bathrooms.

One of the nicest features of any Colonial is the center hall traditional layout, with the formal rooms up front and the family living area in the back of the home.

 “The upstairs master feels like a romantic bed and breakfast,” Shrenkeisen said. With the vaulted washed pine ceiling and a view of the trees, you’d be hard-pressed to find a good reason to get out of bed each day. It’s a true sanctuary.

Lakewood is a place where neighbors know each other, kids have lemonade stands, the Fourth of July Parade is legendary, and if you aimlessly toss a football into a crowd, the odds are you’ll hit a volunteer for the annual home tour. You’d be hard-pressed to find a friendlier neighborhood.

Lakewood homes are family homes. Finding an all-American Colonial Revival with five bedrooms at a price point of only $1.35 million is quite a deal in our opinion. We suggest calling Inwood National Bank and lining up that loan, then giving David Bush a call. This one won’t last long.
