Over 19,000 people live in the Uptown area, an upscale neighborhood adjacent to downtown Dallas. It offers a huge array or entertainment, food, and outdoorsy options, from eclectic restaurants and high-end boutiques to the Katy Trail and high-rise living. 

Uptown’s West Village is a vibrant walkable shopping and dining district. In today’s Splurge vs. Steal, we’re looking at two Uptown townhomes within walking distance of this popular destination. They’ve each got some great amenities and both offer a stellar location. Which one would you choose?

In the Travis Terrace City Homes at 3258 N. Haskell Ave., find our splurge, an updated townhome with luxe amenities and finish-out. It has two bedrooms, two full bathrooms, one half bath, two living areas, and 2,516 square feet on three stories, built in 2000 and located near Blackburn Street and McKinney Avenue. It is 0.7 miles to West Village.

Our steal in the Travis Street Condos is at 4134 Travis St., Unit 21, the only unit to have a private patio, attached garage (one-car), and carport. This townhome has one bedrooms, one full bathroom, one half bath, and 1,026 square feet on two stories, built in 1958, practically across the street from West Village. This complex and unit were redesigned by renowned Dallas architect Ron Wommack. 

This was a former model unit with granite counter tops, stainless steel appliances, glass-front cabinets, and surround sound with speakers included. The first floor offers hardwood floors, as well as a living room with a wood beam. The master bath was recently remodeled.  

This townhome was listed Sept. 9 by Dave Mcilrath with C. W. Sparks Management for $259,900. Monthly HOA dues are $207 and include gas, trash, and water/sewer.
