Oak Park Estates

Our Tuesday Two Hundred takes us to Oak Park Estates neighborhood in Oak Cliff. We’ve found a delightful 1964 ranch near Keist Park with some big updates and lots of original charms, too. Love the way they’ve married those.

The home at 1551 W. Pentagon Pkwy. has has three bedrooms, two bathrooms, two living areas, two dining areas, and 1,872 square feet on one story. It is just eight minutes from downtown Dallas and is across the street from the Five Mile Creek greenbelt. Let’s take a look.

An established part of Oak Cliff, Oak Park Estates was first developed in the 50s and 60s. The area is divided by Five Mile Creek, a wildlife haven. According to their neighborhood association, the boundaries of the northern section of Oak Park Estates are Kiest Boulevard, Pentagon Parkway, Rugged Drive, and Navajo Drive. The boundaries of the southern section of the neighborhood are Five Mile Parkway, Whitedove Drive, Ovid Lane, and Lost Creek Drive. The area is notable for rolling hills and mature trees.

The list of new things is long in this renovated home and includes: new laminate floors, new carpet in the bedrooms, new electric plugs and switches, fresh paint, new front columns, new cedar shutters, new AC compressor, updated electric box and riser, and new light fixtures. Phew.

This home has a traditional ranch floorplan with a formal from living room and dining room with a large window. Love the original ceiling texture! Behind this space is the second living area, anchored by a painted brick fireplace and with a built-in desk and shelves in the corner. Between the front spaces and back living area is the eat-in kitchen. It got a big facelift with custom Shaker-style cabinetry, granite countertops, stone backsplash, new tile floor, and stainless steel appliances, including a gas range.

The bedrooms are good sized, and the master bath is updated with granite countertops that match the kitchen, penny tile on the floor, and subway tile in the shower. The second and third bedrooms share an updated second bath.

French doors from the second living area lead to the backyard, which has big trees and a privacy fence.

This home was listed July 7 by Todd Tramonte with Market Experts Realty for $300K, reduced to $275,000.
