Our Inwood National Bank Home of the Week is a surprising find on many levels. This Mockingbird Park Ranch at 3915 Fairley Lane looks like a charming little cottage. It’s so much more. It’s certainly not little. It’s also not a cookie-cutter house. This ranch is full of character, light, and sits on one of the largest, unique lots in the neighborhood on a dedicated block. That’s right; there is only one house on Fairley Lane.
“This was our first house,” owner Travis Ewert said. “A friend introduced us to this neighborhood. We fell in love with it and immediately started looking for a home.”
Ewert and his wife Christy had been renting in the M Streets when they discovered this Mockingbird Park ranch. “We loved the layout, the huge lot and how private it is,” Travis said. “We essentially have our own street. You don’t even see the neighbors. When we first saw the house and started looking around, we were stunned as we made our way through it to find a huge family room. Not many houses have that kind of family room, and that’s where you spend the majority of your time.”
“The huge family room is what sold us,” Christy said. “That and the beautiful view of the deck and pool.”
It’s rare to find the blend of charm and space this 1949 home offers. With 3,203 square feet, three bedrooms, and three bathrooms, it was the perfect place for the Ewerts to start their family. The pool is completely fenced so it’s baby-safe and there is a full guest house on the property, perfect for visiting grandparents!
“We’ve loved the guest house,” Travis said. “It’s served multiple purposes from home gym and workspace to the man cave!”
You may not be familiar with Mockingbird Park. It’s two blocks south of Greenway Parks and two blocks west of West Highland Park. It’s an excellent location for anyone working downtown, uptown, in the medical district or at Love Field. Frankly, it’s just a perfect central location, and it does not back up to Inwood Road, so there’s no traffic noise at all.
“The location is great. You go through two stops signs and are on the Dallas North Tollway,” Christy said
Parties are a big part of life in this Mockingbird Park ranch. “It’s a great house for entertaining,” Travis said.
“We can set up a ton of round tables in the driveway, and the flow between the house, the driveway, and the pool is great for parties,” Christy added. “We’ve entertained 120 easily. There is also a ton of parking as we are the only house on the block!”
There is also a separate side yard for playground equipment and another area with plenty of space for a vegetable or cutting garden. And no one can see into the backyard. It’s completely private.
“I’ll miss the privacy, the pool, and the guest house,” Christy said. “Having that dedicated space for guests is really nice.”
“One of the things I’m going to miss is our walks,” Travis added. “We take these huge walks during the week and on the weekends, for five or six miles through the luxurious parts of Highland Park. It’s hard to say what we’ll miss most, the cozy neighborhood feeling, all the space, the character, the easy access to uptown and downtown. This house is a part of me. It’s hard to leave.”
