Texas Rangers Co-Owner Bob Simpson is Selling His Montserrat Castle For $7M

Montserrat has a legitimate cachet in Fort Worth as the gated enclave for the who’s who of the city’s elite. Rarely does the opportunity present itself to not only find an epically custom home in this exclusive community, but to have the largest home on the largest lot is beyond all likelihood.
But that’s what’s on offer from Briggs-Freeman Sotheby’s International Realty agent Michael Crain. He’s listed the enormous estate of Texas Rangers co-owner Bob Simpson at 9553 Bella Terra Drive for $7 million. The home, which sports six bedrooms, eight full and one half baths, and more than 24,000 square feet has both an indoor and outdoor pool, an approximately 5,000-square-foot master suite with a 1,000-square-foot master closet, and so much more.
“This is the biggest home and largest property in Montserrat,” Crain said. “This is like having your own private country club inside one of the most exclusive gated communities. You never have to leave.”
Sure, the original home was grand, but the Simpsons hoped to improve on it. “Mrs. Simpson wanted a castle, and that’s exactly what she got with this estate,” Crain said. And in the process of making it her own, she spared no expense. “There was no detail too small,” he added.
So they purchased the lot next door and proceeded to add on a master suite and an indoor swimming pool with spa. And really, this is so much more than a master suite. Crain notes that the Simpsons truly imparted a personal touch in this addition. Sure, there’s a bed, but there’s also a two-story, 1,000-square-foot closet with power everything. I can easily imagine having a party in there. Easily. And the pool and spa?
“If you’re fortunate enough to be a visitor and see the master suite, it’s very distinctive,” Crain said. “There’s an amazing painted ceiling above the hot tub. It’s very Sistine Chapel-like.”
OK, as a frequent flier at King Spa, I have to say that this is amazing and I am sold. I just have to find like, seven roommates and a private investor. Or I need to win the lottery.
If you thought that was the end to the waterworks, you’re mistaken. There’s also a huge outdoor pool with slide, plus another spa and tons of balcony and patio space. This is party central!
“I imagine someone who has a large family and who loves to entertain will appreciate this property,” Crain concluded. I have to agree!
