We’ve been telling you the Dallas real estate market is hotter than ever. Don’t believe anyone that says it’s slowing down. It’s not.

Our Saturday Eight Hundred is a fantastic Lakewood Heights Craftsman at 6334 Velasco Ave. that proves our point. Scott Carlson and Patrick Bukowitz with Briggs Freeman Sotheby’s listed this three-story, 3,855-square-foot stunner on Friday. It went to contract Monday.

Of course, it is a spectacular home so we’d expect it to move pretty quickly, but this was a lightning-fast sale.

Look carefully. This Craftsman could pass for an original in a heartbeat. However, it was a custom build in 2002 by Jason Kelly.

Kelly went above and beyond to recreate a period perfect home. He scoured Dallas for vintage claw foot tubs and stained glass, used reclaimed wood for the floors, and had Lone Star Ceramic handcraft the tile. Remember this was 14 years ago, before the great vintage resources existed that are available today.

Kelly also realized four bedrooms and four bathrooms were what families needed, and there were not nearly enough homes that fit the bill. He stayed true to the layout of original Craftsman homes, keeping the private rooms on the second and third floors. The master suite, on the second floor, has an idyllic screened-in porch.

The third floor was finished out to be a loft space with a kitchenette. It’s the perfect spot for kids to spread out and have their play haven or it could be a phenomenal man cave.

Kelly also had the foresight to build 646 square feet of guest quarters over the garage. Quarters have rapidly become a must-have feature of homes in East Dallas. Everyone wants guests to have a place of their own, or they want to use this space for a home office.

So, while this baby when to contract in record time, it doesn’t mean you can’t find your dream home in East Dallas. We happen to know Carlson and Bukowitz have a few more up their sleeves at the moment so give them a call and get on the inside track!
