Richardson Heights Traditional Shines From Every Angle, Offers Looks, Location, Value

Richardson Heights is an up-and-coming neighborhood in the Dallas suburb of Richardson, located 12 miles north of downtown, just outside Interstate 635. If you’re looking to get a lot of house for your money, and find character-filled properties, this is the area for you.
Our Thursday Three Hundred at 720 Winchester Dr. is a 1958 traditional, renovated recently to appeal to modern buyers. But its personality still shines through in its three bedrooms, two bathrooms, two living areas, and 2,129 square feet. This house is the whole package: location, looks, and value.
Richardson Heights was named among the “5 Neighborhoods on the Rise” in the July issue of D Magazine. In this area, you’ll find lots of homes from the 1950s and 1960s. It’s close to a DART light rail station, and the trip downtown is around 25 minutes. For fun, there’s the nearby Alamo Drafthouse and a plentitude of restaurants. Just across the street is Heights Park, 33 acres with picnic and playground equipment, the Heights Recreation Center, a swimming pool, splash playground, two lighted baseball fields, two athletic fields, and two lighted tennis courts.
Located near West Arapaho Road and North Waterview Drive, this house has cute curb appeal, with that 1950’s red brick, fresh paint on shutters, , and a mature shade tree.
Inside, everything feels fresh about this house, from new paint and refurbished hardwoods, to new slate floors, new closet doors, and other updates. The entryway opens to the formal dining room to the left, and flows to the main living area. This space offers a large brick fireplace, slate floors, and views of the back. The open kitchen is nearby, with new hardware, lots of white cabinets, a glass tile backsplash, and stainless steel appliances. Toward the back of the house, a second living area/atrium with new thermal doors. Both bathrooms are renovated, and one has a clawfoot tub, the other a jetted tub.
In the back, a newish deck would make for relaxing times in the yard, where there is a stone pathway meandering through the grassy green space.
This home was listed Oct. 14 by Kay H. McFarlane with Jerry A. Allegro & Associates for $395,000. There is an open house this Sunday, Nov. 13, from 2-4 p.m.
Nice, traditional home. I would put hw throughout the whole house and change the kitchen backsplash.
