Open house: Saturday, Jan. 30, 2-4 p.m.

The home at 3808 Townsend Dr. near Royal and Marsh lanes in Northwest Dallas is an impressive contemporary renovation. The owners have taken a 1960’s ranch with 3,320 square feet and made it something marvelous. It is a 4-3 with three living areas, three luxe bathrooms, and private pool access from the master suite. The kitchen is all new, with white contemporary cabinets, blue glass subway tile backsplash, granite counters, a butcher block island, breakfast bar, walk-in pantry, stylish pendant lights, and stainless steel appliances, including a gas stove.

The master bathroom is spa-like, with a frameless glass shower with body sprays and a shower nook, dual sinks, and a modern wire light fixture. Nearby is a walk-in closet. It was listed Jan. 21 by Noe De Leon with Keller Williams Realty Plano for $767,700.

Open house: Sunday, Jan. 31, 1-3 p.m.

The cottage feel dominates at 2615 Alco Ave. in North Oak Cliff’s Terry Heights neighborhood, near West Davis and South Hampton. This 2-1 has 1,101 square feet, built in 1943, with lots of great architectural details and updates (and low-E windows!). The floorplan offers hardwoods throughout (except bathroom), and the updated kitchen features granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, lots of white cabinets, and a view of the living room. The bathroom is also updated, with new sink, vanity, and fixtures. It’s a small footprint, but this home makes the most of its space. It was listed Dec. 21 by Grant Vancleve with Briggs Freeman Sotheby’s International for $279K, reduced to its current list price of $275,000.

Open house: Sunday, Jan. 31, 1-3 p.m.

The contemporary home at 15802 Golden Creek Rd. in North Dallas’ Prestonwood is a light-lovers dream. The house is built around a courtyard with a pool, and has miles of windows throughout. It has 3,724 square feet with four bedrooms, three full bathrooms, and a powder room, built in 1978.

The home has a modern feel, with dual-sided fireplaces and brick accents. Some of the amenities feel dated, like the kitchen appliances, mirrored master bedroom ceiling, and bathrooms, but this home has excellent bones, and new carpet and roof in December 2015. The master is big, with dual master baths, coffee bar, fireplace, garden tub, sitting area, and walk-in closets. The backyard is lovely, with a seating area and mature landscaping. It was listed Dec. 9 by Katherene Hough with Dave Perry-Miller Real Estate for $539K, and is currently on the market for $499,900.

Open house: Sunday, Jan. 31, 1-3 p.m.

The updated ranch at 9644 Robin Meadow Dr. is a vision in white, with a crisp, clean feel. Located near Abrams and Royal in Town Creek, it’s a 5-3 with 3,451 square feet, built in 1974. The owners have updated every part of the home, and you’ll find handscraped hardwood floors in all the common areas, an open floorplan, big windows that let in tons of light, and one bedroom separate from the other, making it ideal for a mother-in-law suite.

The renovated kitchen is open to the living room and breakfast area, with white cabinets, granite counters, lots of storage space, and stainless steel appliances, include a wine refrigerator. The breakfast area is eyecatching, a large, round space with a round recessed ceiling. This home was listed Dec. 17 by Donna Gordon with VIP Realty for $559,000, reduced to current list price of $547,000 last week.

Open house: Sunday, Jan. 31, 1-3 p.m.

We love a good Tudor, and the home at 606 Newell Ave. in East Dallas’ Hollywood/Santa Monica is just that. This 2-1 has 1,361 square feet, built in 1924. The curb appeal is undeniable, and the home’s interior is great, with hardwoods, an original fireplace, lots of windows, and a clawfoot bathtub in the bathroom. The kitchen needs updating, but the backyard is fantastic, with a raised stone patio, mature landscaping, and a two-car detached garage. It was listed Jan. 15 by Kenneth Lampton with RE/MAX DFW Associates for $340,000.
