Monday Morning Millionaire: Haute Allen Home Has Custom Everything Inside and Out

Yes, it’s in the suburbs, just north in Collin County, but this beautiful home has some serious appeal for those who want great schools, fantastic shopping, and tons of amenities. It’s another fabulous Allen listing from Cathy Browne, and you won’t believe what is inside those amazing iron doors.

Clad in brick and cast stone, this traditional has subtle Mediterranean features and lush gardens that will captivate. It’s inside one of Allen‘s most exclusive neighborhoods, The Reserve at Starcreek. The lot is just immense at .42 acres, and it’s on a cul-de-sac, so your family will feel safe playing in the front yard, meeting your neighbors.

How fantastic is that? Just like a classic Spanish-style home, there’s a courtyard to greet you as you enter through the wrought-iron doors, a sort of buffer between the outside and inside of the home. Not only is there beautiful formed concrete and high-end artificial turf, but to the right is a loggia with a wood-burning fireplace and stained checkerboard concrete patio floor. To the right of the fireplace is the separate but attached guest quarters, with hardwoods, a full bath, and a walk-in closet. It’s perfect for long-term guests who want a bit of privacy.

The home, located at 904 Thornbury, has six bedrooms, six full and one half baths, an oversized three-car garage, and more than 5,100 square feet. Not only that, it’s absolutely picture perfect. The archways on the other side of the room open up into the main hallway, and mimic the patters of the doors on the opposite side. It is warm and open, and has contemporary touches while still maintaining the Mediterranean character.

Just off the formal dining room is the family room, which is a really cozy space. I love the carpet and hardwoods, which make the room feel plush. The home has built-in entertainment cabinets, another atrium door that leads to the backyard, and large windows with Roman shades. the exposed beams are a great touch for this room, which could otherwise end up feeling bland.

Next to the family room is the dining room, which has a fireplace that will warm up all of your gatherings. I love the built-in shelving, too. I can definitely imagine a large farm table with lots of unique chairs hosting a boisterous wine dinner. If you love to entertain, this is a fantastic room to play hostess.

 

Through the arched doorway is the kitchen, which has such beautiful antiqued cabinetry and a large eat-in island. You get a large, six-burner, commercial-grade stainless steel range, a Sub Zero refrigerator, and lovely dark granite counters that look wonderful with the brick-look backsplash. I am usually not a fan of dark paint in the kitchen, but this works to me. The arched doorway to the pantry is mirrored in the arched window behind the sink. You’ll also notice how open these three spaces — family room, dining room, and kitchen — are to one another, which is great for flow!

“Also downstairs is the fabulous master bedroom suite, complete with cast-stone fireplace, sitting area, and door to the backyard,” says Browne. “The luxurious, spa-like master bath features a claw-foot tub, walk-in shower, built-in cabinets, his-and-hers vanities, and two walk-in closets.”

I also love the plantation shutters, which are perfect for bedrooms with tons of windows. Some days you want a view, and some days you want to sleep in. These shutters will let in plenty of light and views of the backyard when you want it, and keep everything else at bay on the days where you just can’t even.

I do love that there’s a clearly separate sitting room in the master suite, too. Come in from the hot tub and not yet ready to call it a night? Cozy up next to the fire and read a book! Perfect!

“The upstairs entertainment suite provides a huge game or media room with wet bar and balcony overlooking the pool area,” Browne said. “In addition, there are hardwood floors, four spacious bedrooms, three baths, plus a desk area and library-style bookshelves.”

This is a great spot to host poker night or have friends over to watch the big game. The lighting and atmosphere make it a great media room, too. I do love that more homes are incorporating spaces that do double duty. It makes them more versatile and functional. It’s hard to commit to a space that can do only one thing, but this would be a great space for billiards, for movies, or for just hanging out.

 

Of course, what really stands out about this home is the lush backyard. The pool, which is a natural-feeling free-form shape that incorporates a tropical landscape, spa, waterfall, and fire pit, will transport you. It’s like an instant vacation! There’s an outdoor kitchen, too, replete with grill, sink, refrigerator, and stone bar. There’s also a pool bath, should you have a bunch of kids over for a pool party and don’t want them tracking the outside indoors all day. I also love the shaded hammock spot. How perfect is that?
