Tuesday Two Hundred: It May Not Look Like Much From The Photos, But This Peavy Road Abode is a Bargain

Here’s another installment in our every-so-often series of homes that look better than their photographs. That’s at least what I think of 2515 Peavy Road, a three-bedroom, two-bath traditional in a very hot area of East Dallas called Alger Park/Ash Creek.
This very tidy and well-maintained traditional is just what the doctor ordered for first-time homebuyers who want a great investment. The sellers have done some upgrading of their own, leaving no trace of the multi-colored Dal-Tile in either of the bathrooms — a feature so prevalent it deserves its own decor dissection.
What you won’t see in this listing is a good photo that really encapsulates the way this house shows. Most of the photos are taken at odd angles, not showing you the layout of either bathrooms, the living room, or where they are in relation to one another. It’s like watching the highlight reel from a spectacular World Series game — you get the gist of what happened, but it would be way better in context.
So yes, we see the cool exposed brick wall that houses a gas fireplace, but where is that in relation to the living areas and the dining room? And yes, we see that there are marble floors and shower surround in one of the bathrooms, but is it in the master suite, or is it across from the vanity? This is one of those missed opportunities for a professional photographer and some serious staging to really show off this home.
Still, it’s a great deal for an area that is seeing a surge in values. It’s listed for a recently reduced $199,900 by Michael Schmidt of White Rock Lake Real Estate. Besides having gorgeous wood floors, a great little galley kitchen with granite counters, and a wonderful covered rear porch, it has new windows, tons of closets, and an oversized two-car garage.
I just wish you could get the whole picture of what this home offers in the photos.
Great house with potential how can we jazz up the front?
Not a fan of the wood shingles on the roof either.

Maybe they should read our photographer series : )
You know what, though, I want to retract my statement – someone loved this home, and someone else will as well.
I think there is hope. I would even paint that interior FP brick wall — is that bad?
There seems to be no saving grace inside either – hideous fireplace and wall around it. Sorry.

Photos make the world of difference! I'd say made the entry more of a focal point. Loose the bushes and brick wall in front of the door. Landscaping can be expensive to a seller but there could defiantly be improvements.

hire me. I would snap that place into shape! Super modern. better ext colors ( i know you hate to paint brick, but this is ugly) cool fence and native grass. get rid of the silly post..chunky is better. expand the f porch
No totally in general I do not like to paint brick but some colors and types have to be covered up, like that orangey 1950's stuff. Are you thinking creamy beige or crisp white? Totally expand that front porch and what about the shutters?
That post is REALLY bothering me!
