Thursday Three Hundred: How Much Can You Get For $300K in McKinney? A Whole Lot, Especially at This Home!

If you want more home for less, head for the suburbs. That’s at least how most people think, right? But is it true? Can you get more square feet, more upgrades, and newer construction if you sacrifice an additional 30 minutes to your commute?
The short answer? Yes. This Highland Homes four-bedroom, three-and-a-half bath two-story in the Ridgecrest subdivision of McKinney is huge at 3,500 square feet and has granite counter, stainless steel appliances, a bonus room, a home theater room, and pretty much everything you’d expect from a house built in 2009. Except, because it’s in McKinney, you won’t pay a cool half-million for all these features. In fact, 6401 Wind Song will only set you back $304,900.
See what I mean? That’s not a lot of dough for a huge house. Yes, it’s in McKinney, but this Collin County suburb has quite a few amenities, including The Heard Natural Science Museum and Wildlife Sanctuary. The old downtown is adorable, too, and has great shopping.
Back to the house: the kitchen has a huge island, which will be great for entertaining and supervising your kids’ homework while making dinner. You’ll probably have most of your meals in the breakfast nook, which has a huge window, as opposed to the dining room, which feels somewhat claustrophobic.
There’s a den that’s open to the kitchen, which has a great stone fireplace. It’s a great spot to watch the game that’s within reach of all the nibbles in the kitchen. I really like the huge window from which you can see everything in the backyard, too.
While most of the bedrooms are upstairs, and all have huge walk-in closets, the master suite is downstairs and has a great bay window. It’s big enough for the biggest bed, with plenty of room for oversized furniture and a sitting area.
The master bath has an oversized shower, a soaking tub, and two separate vanities. Everything is clean and practically new, which is what you’re looking for if you’re headed to the suburbs, right?
The backyard features a covered patio and enough room for a playset or maybe even a deck. With how much money you’ll save buying out in McKinney, you might even be able to swing a small pool!
