Four Members Honored at Greater Fort Worth Association of Realtors Awards Luncheon

Four real estate professionals received top honors at the annual awards luncheon of The Greater Fort Worth Association of Realtors (GFWAR) held April 10 at River Crest Country Club in Fort Worth.

The four were named winners for their important contributions to the GFWAR and Fort Worth’s real estate industry.

‘The Best of Our Membership’

Realtor Michael Langford with Orr Real Estate was named Charles McMillan Realtor of the Year. Realtor Joelene Slocum with Williams Trew Real Estate received the Marie and Dayton Sheridan Realtor Spirit Award. Affiliate Alex Krus with Rattikin Title Company won the Affiliate of the Year Award. Last but not least, Realtor Elizabeth McCoy with Williams Trew Real Estate received the A.L. Purvis Distinguished Service Award.

“These four recipients exemplify the best of our membership as time after time they have shown their dedication to the advancement of our association and the betterment of the real estate industry as a whole,” said GFWAR CEO Suzanne Westrum in a written statement. Westrum was named the organization’s CEO in February, coming from a similar organization in Prescott, Arizona.

The awards, chosen by a committee in 2024, were for the 2023 calendar year.

Get to Know These Fort Worth Real Estate Stars

Langford is a third-generation Realtor with a career that includes leadership positions in the real estate community. He is a past president of GFWAR, having been active within the organization for more than a decade and serving on committees and the board of directors. Additionally, he also has taken on leadership positions for the National Association of Realtors, Texas Realtors, and the Society of Commercial Realtors.

Slocum, winner of the 2023 Realtor Spirit Award, is a frequent volunteer at GFWAR events. Her work within the organization includes sitting on the board of directors and volunteering on multiple committees. Her community activities include the East Parker County Chamber of Commerce and the Rotary Club of Aldeo.

As the recipient of the Affiliate of the Year Award, Krus was recognized for strengthening partnerships between Realtors and associated real estate professionals. Within the GFWAR, Krus’ committee work has included Community Outreach, Diversity and Inclusion, Season of Giving, Business After Hours, and Young Professionals Network committees.

McCoy’s distinguished service award recognized her term as board president in 2021, guiding the organization during the pandemic recovery. A GFWAR member for more than 20 years, she has volunteered on numerous committees. She also has worked as a leader for the National Association of Realtors and recently was honored with the Texas Realtors Political Action Committee’s Spirit of TREPAC Award.

GFWAR was founded 1918 and its membership now has reached close to 5,000 members.
