If you thought last week’s featured listing was eye-catching, you’ll probably swoon over this week’s stunner. It’s the same style and same vintage only supersized. Also, it bears a prestigious single-digit Westover Hills address at 8 Westover Road.

The six-bedroom, six-bath house has over 8,400 square feet of living space and sits on a verdant lot of over one acre with proud old-growth trees. The listing style description of Norman-Jacobethan Period Revival does lend itself to Tudor elements — including half-timber exterior walls and quoin-bracketed brickwork.

Enter and find traditional warmth, not the bombast one might encounter in some new build of similar style in some gated communities we could name.

Built in 1929 by architect Victor M. Curtis, the house is on the National Register and was immediately recognized by the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, which named it “Home Beautiful” in 1930.

The living room, with its crown beam ceiling, is hands-down the grandest of rooms without being daunting. One can easily imagine enjoying a cup of coffee or a warming nightcap near the fireplace at center.

The voluminous space is overlooked by a second-floor balcony.

There are multiple living areas up and downstairs and I count at least four fireplaces including one in the dining room.

At the back is a kitchen that overlooks a sitting area centered on one of the fireplaces. A wall of windows with views of the lovely garden augments the breakfast area.

The handsome paneled staircase terminates at a landing with a cozy alcove. The living room overlook is at right.

One bedroom is on the ground floor with the remaining five on the second floor. The primary bedroom has a fireplace. The current owners have chosen to furnish this extensive house in a fresh, simple, and unpretentious manner.

At back, enjoy the bulk of the wooded acreage with impressive masonry walls. The garage houses four cars. This is one of the premiere listings on the market, and with the location and all of the extras, the price comes out to $600 per square foot. However, wearing my homeowner’s rep hat, a house of this quality built today would price out between $800-$1,000 per square foot.

Ida Duwe Olsen of Compass Real Estate Texas has priced 8 Westover Road at $5.1 million.

Great write up on the beautiful home. However, the picture of the back with the impressive masonry walls is the same picture as the Berkeley Place home from last week!

Our mistake! I guess Eric meant it when he said this home was a similar style and design from last week!
