Not all luxury homebuilding companies are truly custom and even fewer will hold your hand and make the experience seamless, from first consultation meeting to the day you get your keys.

One of the reasons I love Bella Custom Homes is that their design and build process is completely custom. It is created to give homeowners a step-by-step, logical course of decisions and actions that is informative — and actually fun!

And why wouldn’t it be with the two people leading the company. Owner and president Tony Visconti has over 40 years in the industry and knows the luxury market inside and out — he understands what works and why. Vice president and lead interior designer Stacy Brotemarkle has over 20 years of experience and brings her project management and aesthetic skills to every project, leading a team to get it done on time and in budget. Together, they create the Bella Custom Homes experience.

“What we offer is unlike any other builder in North Texas,” said Visconti.

Stacy Brotemarkle comes by her passion for homebuilding through a deep family history. Her grandfather and father were builders, her grandmother in real estate, and her uncle an architect.

“My mom has a picture of me at two years old sitting on a stack of plywood on one of my dad’s job sites,” Brotemarkle laughs. “I was 12 when I told my family I wanted to be an interior designer and I stuck with that desire and got my BFA degree from the University of North Texas, along with a minor in engineering technology.”

Stacy Brotemarkle

As vice president and lead interior designer for Bella Custom Homes, Brotemarkle offers a winning combination of knowledge, experience, and perspective to designing, building, and serving her clients. She has worked on over 200 custom luxury homes in the North Texas market, collaborating with future homeowners from day one.

“It’s so beneficial for interior designers to be at the planning stages because we can think far down the line and ask the kind of questions that will avoid future headache — where is furniture going to go? Will the door swing into the wall? Where are those drapery panel going to stack?” she said. “The earlier in the process that you start thinking about these things, the easier the whole process is because we use a building block process and all selections are in a chronological process for our clients.”

Bella Custom Homes’ clients get the benefit of working with a licensed interior designer to assist them throughout the whole process, from designing to building their new dream home. The designer works with the clients from designing the house plans to “specing” the project.

Once construction starts, the real fun begins. The designer is at all the on-site design meetings, takes clients to the showrooms to make decorative selections, and visits the site to make sure everything gets implemented in a way that translates the clients’ vision to reality. The results speak for themselves.

Building a home is not hard at all. But for many, it can be overwhelming to think of getting it all structurally sound, then pulling it all together for a flawless, coordinated finish.

That’s one reason why we are so selective with our CandysDirt.com Preferred Home Builders: they are screened and curated, and on our site by invitation only. Most have been building homes for years, and these are the same people we would use if we ourselves were building a house. One of our favorites: Bella Custom Homes.

Kevin Bradshaw knows the difficulty of finding a good home builder. Fortunately, he found a great one: Tony Visconti of Bella Custom Homes, who is celebrating 25 years of custom build-to-suit homes this year.

Like most successful businessmen, Kevin is a discriminating client. The senior vice president of the western division of FM Global, a commercial property insurance company, Kevin has a background in engineering and knows a lot about home building from the beginning. We caught up with him to see how he decided on Bella to build his home in the McKinney community of Craig Ranch Estates: (more…)

Stacy Brotemarkle remembers when she was a 12-year-old, tagging along with her parents while house hunting. For most kids, hours and hours of showings and trekking through home after home can be boring and tedious, but Brotemarkle remembers it all fondly.

“I said, ‘Mom, I want to be an interior designer,’ ” Brotemarkle recalled. “She said, ‘Yeah, sure, and last week you wanted to be a singer.’ ”

But unlike her musical ambitions, interior design stuck with her through high school and onward. Right after graduating high school, Brotemarkle went to work for Hawkins-Welwood Homes, later graduating from the University of North Texas with a BFA in interior design. Today, Brotemarkle is the vice president and lead interior designer at Bella Custom Homes, one of the foremost luxury custom builders in North Texas.

Editor’s Note: Bella Custom Homes is a 25-year Dallas-based custom luxury home builder who has built homes for the most discriminating homeowners in Dallas. His company is not to be confused with the now defunct Bella Vita Custom Homes, which filed for bankruptcy earlier this year.

Let’s face it: the Dallas real estate market is still low on inventory. Families looking for the truly custom home, the one that checks all the boxes on the wish list, often despair when they cannot find exactly what they want in the marketplace.

That’s when custom home builder Tony Visconti comes in with his exclusive Build to Suit process. His experience rivals few in the business, and Tony knows building dynamics more than most. Since 1993, Tony has been helping homeowners achieve their brick and mortar dreams when it comes to a truly custom home that is unique to the person, the personality and the lifestyle.

With hundreds of luxury custom homes completed over the last 25 years, Bella Custom Homes, Tony Visconti and his team have the process down to a science. Tony and his team meet with the clients throughout the entire home building process, from beginning to end.

The first part is lot selection. Tony helps his clients select the dirt they want, always by their side, because there are several factors that many first-time-building homeowners don’t consider from their neophyte perspective.

Remember that freeze we had just before Christmas last?  Somehow, something had knocked the insulation off a fire sprinkler pipe in the attic above our media room, which took talent because we have a ton of insulation in our attics. Since I seldom go upstairs, I did not know there was a leak from a frozen fire sprinkler that burst once it thawed, filling the room like a swimming pool. When I opened the door to the garage, directly below this room, it was Niagara Falls!

A whole lot of clean up, drying, hauling, moving, and wall/floor repair later, I am learning first hand the difference between two foundations, the post tension slab and old-fashioned pier and beam.

First off I consulted one of my trusty Candy’s Dirt-approved homebuilders, Tony Visconti of Bella Custom Homes. Tony builds multi-million dollar estates, huge ones, such as his glorious home on Deloache. The available home at 4926 Deloache in Old Preston Hollow is a pier and beam foundation with a basement. This home is a little over 14,000 square feet of luxurious finish out, all situated on a gorgeous, wooded 1.76 acre lot.

Which foundation is better, I asked?

4926 Deloache Avenue Dallas, Texas – Currently offered for $14.5 million.

Are you one of the thousands of Dallas home buyers scrambling to find the perfect lot to build your dream home?  Despite the frantic land grab sweeping North Texas, there are still several area neighborhoods offering prime lots to build and buy, but where are they?

We went straight to the source – Tony Visconti, a third-generation homebuilder, and owner/president of Bella Custom Homes – for expert advice on finding the right lot.

“Right now, with all the growth in the Metroplex there are several hot areas. Preston Hollow is one of my favorites, along with Frisco, McKinney, Southlake, and Flower Mound,” says Visconti, builder of 4926 Deloache fame.

There is a new standard of luxury in Old Preston Hollow, and Bella Custom Homes is leading it. This weekend is the unveiling — yes, unveiling, just like a painting — of Bella’s latest masterpiece of perfection: 4926 Deloache Avenue. This exquisite Italian Mediterranean estate is ideal for the discriminating buyer who has an eye for architectural perfection and loves unique touches in every nook and cranny of the house. And there are a lot of nook’s and crannies in this place: the more than 14,000 square foot estate flawlessly embraces traditional classic architectural elements with transitional styling and modern essentials, all the elements that modern buyers of luxury real estate want.

The builder, Tony Visconti, has delivered the undeliverable with the estate. You enter first through a custom iron front door into an impressive entry with 25- foot ceilings that soar. Check out each angle: large plaster crown molding is everywhere and perfect, and the floors are imported marble. (more…)
