3320 S Ravinia f

Some of the most lush and secluded properties in Dallas can be found in Oak Cliff, where there are rolling hills and lots of green places.

Our Thursday Three Hundred is a truly one-of-a-kind property at 3320 S. Ravinia Dr., near W. Keist Boulevard and S. Westmoreland Road in Kiestwood. This contemporary home has two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and 2,636 square feet on four stories/five levels, built in 1985.

It feels like a treehouse with the unusual floor plan and an almost tropical backyard with a custom swimming pool and beautifully landscaped yard. Both bedrooms are designed as master suites, and the home has lots of luxe extras, from mahogany floors and open staircases, to a wine cellar and granite and marble throughout. The icing on the cake is a balcony off the fifth-floor master that overlooks the gorgeous backyard.

oak lawn condoThe Haven Condos in Oak Lawn are only nine years old and they’ve got a prime location near Oak Lawn and Lemmon. Today’s Tuesday Two Hundred, 4040 N. Hall St. #204, just went on the market last week and it is already under contract.

Take a look and see why! This 2-2 has 1,201 square feet and a clean, contemporary look. From light-colored bamboo floors to stainless steel appliances and fixtures, it feels modern and bright.

400 AcklingtonEverything is bigger in Texas, and that certainly holds true in the residential real estate of Dallas’ northern suburbs.

But spacious houses can be hard to come by under $300K, so today’s Tuesday Two Hundred listing at 400 Acklington Dr. in Anna caught my eye with 3,701 square feet, four big bedrooms, and 2.5 baths. It is newly listed by Steve Warren at Re/Max Dallas Suburbs for $289,900.

That’s just over $78 a square foot—right on par with comparable sales in the area, which have ranged from $63 to $100 a square foot (and this house is the biggest in size of the recent sales I’ve found).

Anna is located about 11 miles northeast of McKinney and 40 miles north of Dallas on U.S. Highway 75, State Highway 5, and State Highway 121. Those highways make getting around DFW a cinch. It’s also one of the fastest growing cities in Collin County with about 11,000 residents and offers great amenities, like Natural Springs Park, which is walking distance from the house. This heavily wooded park has a spring that feeds into a pond, as well as a large open space. Future plans for the park include walking trails with three bridges, picnic tables, benches, a gazebo, and a fishing pier.

The house is also only 1.9 miles away from Slayter Creek Park with its splash pad, playground, walking trail, skateboard park, horseshoe pits, shuffleboard court, disc golf course, athletic fields, and large pavilion. Jump to read more and see lots of pics of the house!

My favorite real estate blogger, Mama dear over at The RealStalker, got the scoopola straight from Austin: Dennis Quaid and his wife, Kimberly, have a giant 11,000 square foot plus house on Lake Austin under contract and are ditching sunny Cali to raise their twins here in the Lone Star state, or at least, in that part that is most like California: Austin.¬† My colleague Sheree Curry at AOL talked to their LA agent, who told Sheree that “one of her favorite features of the Pacific Palisades home they are leaving behind is ‘a great set of huge vintage wood doors that Dennis and Kimberly put in to enter the master suite. They add a wonderful ambiance and set the scene for entering the room.’ “¬† Well, I’ll take being on Lake Austin over vintage wooden doors any day, no offense.

And look how much more space the Quaids are getting in Texas: their 8,400-square-foot main house in LA has 8 bedrooms and 8¬Ω baths, a master suite with a fireplace and private balcony. Fireplaces are everywhere: the gourmet kitchen, the beamed living room and the covered loggia that overlooks the swimming pool and spa. A converted gym sits above the kitchen, but the space can be used as a maid’s quarters. There is also an office and a wine cellar. On for $16.9 million.

In past interviews, Quaid has hinted that he bought a couple of acres on Lake Austin, back when he first met his bride, Kimberly Buffington, who worked in real estate in Austin. According to TREC records, Buffington holds an inactive Texas real estate license. Her father is the CEO of Austin-based Buffington Signature Homes. Last time she was in Austin, she was doing PR for a Title Company. Oh, and talking about multiple homes: the Quaids own their home in Pacific Palisades,  the one on the market, and a ranch near Paradise Valley, Montana, near Yellowstone National Park.
