Wilshire Heights is one of the great neighborhoods of East Dallas, located minutes from the northwest shores of White Rock Lake. It’s close to all the Lakewood offers, as well as Central Expressway, making it a snap to get around the city. 

This week’s Splurge vs Steal houses are in the hear of Wilshire Heights on Martel Avenue (also in the M Streets). They’re near East Mockingbird Lane and Skillman Street in the attendance zone for Stonewall Jackson Elementary School, a major bonus for families. Which one is your favorite?

Our Saturday Six Hundred, at 6903 Sedgwick Drive in Merriman Park Estates, is built around a tree, and there’s something magical about it. It’s almost as if the tree imparts a protective spirit over the home. Think about it for a moment — the builder made sure the tree survived. He had a heart for it. Instead of taking the easy way out and uprooting it, he constructed his home with respect for the tree. You don’t see that happen often. (more…)
