cedar crestSometimes you flip through listings and a house just … stands out — like this funky Cedar Crest home with a fun facade and a well-updated interior with a price point that will make some family very, very happy.

Unfamiliar with Cedar Crest? We’ve written about listings in the charming neighborhood before, but for the uninitiated, Cedar Crest is a well-established neighborhood in Dallas that is, we think, a hidden gem. Close to downtown (in fact, you can see the skyline from many points in the neighborhood), the community also boasts a very busy neighborhood association, and is home to the Cedar Crest Golf Course, which hosted the first PGA Tour in 1927.

You can even see a great tour of the golf course here.

“For decades the Cedar Crest neighbors have demonstrated pride in home ownership, which is discernible by many of the uniquely designed custom built homes,” the association’s website said. “The community is well noted for community and political involvement and has produced many business owners, educators and dignitaries.” (more…)

Far North Dallas is the place to be if you’re looking for bigger homes and a more suburban lifestyle north of LBJ Freeway. It’s the last stop in the city before you get into Plano and it is bordered by Addison and Richardson, too, so the schools are generally quite good (Richardson and Plano ISDs).

In this week’s Splurge vs Steal, we’re headed there to two lovely houses that exemplify the fine living available in Far North Dallas. Which one is your favorite?

“Not bad!” That’s the phrase that came to mind when this Frisco beauty landed on our desk. Of course, a five-bedroom, four-full-bathroom family home in a great neighborhood, with a fabulous pool, under $500,000 in Dallas feels like a needle in a haystack right? Not today!

Country Club Park Renovated House Looks Better Than New | CandysDirt.com

Nestled in deep East Dallas are some great neighborhoods seeing more interest as prices for Dallas real estate continue their climb. These areas are being revitalized and revamped, one house at a time.

One of them is Country Club Park and our Tuesday Two Hundred is located there at 10846 Sharondale Dr. This area is near Gus Thomasson Road and Maylee Boulevard, on the southwestern side of the Dallas Athletic Club.

So what’s the appeal? Affordability, mature trees, cute houses, proximity to LBJ Freeway/Interstate 30, and the short drive or bike ride to White Rock Lake — just 3.9 miles.

This house is the prettiest on the block, in our opinion, with a total remodel, including new central air and heating system, tankless water heater, electrical, and plumbing, and energy efficient windows, and that’s just the beginning.

This home has three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and 1,336 square feet on one story, built in 1955.
