Murphy backyard oasis

This week’s Suburb Sunday takes us out to the small town of Murphy in eastern Collin County, where backyard oases are aplenty. (Yes, the plural of the word oasis is oases.) About 18,000 people call Murphy home, who love the country-living feel of its large-lot homes. Most of the city is served by the highly-rated Plano ISD, while another small portion is served by Wylie ISD. Either way, Murphy is a charming slice of country in the city, as evidenced by these three great homes.

Richardson

For this week’s Suburb Sunday, we head just north of LBJ to check out three Richardson homes for sale with unique styles from the 70s and today, ranging from approximately $280,000 to $750,000.

Richardson is located northeast of Dallas, just south of Plano. About 106,000 people call Richardson home, where they enjoy top-rated Richardson ISD schools, low crime rates, and a first-class venue like Eisemann Center.

This “first-ring” suburbs offers a range of housing options in both new and well-established neighborhoods. Housing is more affordable than many areas of DFW—the average sales price of a house in 2013 was $209,900. sachseWhen a Realtor pitches you a listing that is her own home, you sit up and pay attention — especially when she tells you that it was custom built just for her family. And our Saturday Six Hundred this week in Sachse is definitely a home that should earn your attention.

LaVenda Lee, who is with Ebby Halliday 190-Richardson, wrote us last week about her home at 5517 Sachse Road, after pitching it on our Facebook group, Getting the Dirt, during “Pitch Me Please Thursday.”

“This is my personal home,” she told us. “It was designed by my husband and me, and custom built by my father who built homes for 36 years in Lubbock until he died seven years ago.”
