10110 Daria Front

Midcentury modern connoisseurs will delight in this impeccably preserved Asian influenced specimen at 10110 Daria Drive in the gated Meaders James subdivision, which is just north of Walnut Hill and west of the Dallas North Tollway. It’s so close to Preston Hollow, and it’s in an area where you’ll find several distinctive properties like this one.

It’s one of those homes with such an exceptional floorplan and wonderful original details that is easily a high-caliber home, one worthy of being our High Caliber Home of the Week, sponsored by Lisa Peters of Caliber Home Loans.

You remember that we featured 4524 Westway, a beautiful transitional home that was taken to the studs in 2008. Well, this home is remarkable because it was once a duplex, but thanks to the major attention from designer Dan Nelson (pictured), this home was transformed into an absolutely stunning abode.

Combining interesting patterns and shapes with jewel tones over a gray backdrop is a classic combination for fall, says Bernadette Schaeffler.

Fall is a huge season for freshening up your decor, and using a few new color can add that bit of seasonal pop you’re looking for. Of course, gray is still the neutral of choice, from dark to light and from warm to bright, this do-everything color is a great base from which to play. But what colors should you use to bring your fall palette to life? Bernadette Schaeffler took a short break from designing her new sofa collection in Italy to tell us what we should look for this fall.

A garage renovation is a great way to build a space just for your husband, and to leverage upgrades elsewhere, says Kim Armstrong.

It is said that “a kitchen is the heart of the home,” “kitchens and baths sell homes,” and “if you’re going to do any upgrades, put your money into the kitchen.” This is not breaking news!

So what is it that will separate your home from every other home in the neighborhood? Perplexed? The answer lies with the male half of our population. Yes, those beings that carry the XY chromosomes and seek the perfect Man Cave. But I am talking about the “Original” man cave, the garage. That’s right, the garage!

What’s better than bringing in a stager to help you sell a property for top dollar? Having three!
That’s exactly what Suzy Echols Neal got when she won the Real Estate Staging Association team staging giveaway last fall. The prize included  a team of RESA stagers, MLS photos from Lance Selgo of Unique Exposure Photography, and a virtual tour for an occupied staging. According to RESA Texas State president Karen Eubank of Eubank Staging, the total value of the package is $1,200.
Eubank, RESA Dallas chapter president Karen Otto of Home Star Staging, and fellow RESA stager Amy Fedosky of New Again Home Interiors went to work on Neal’s Lake Highlands listing last month, and thanks to the team’s detailed consultation and fabulous photography, Neal’s clients were able to sell their home at 8606 Shagrock after getting several offers in the first 24 hours.
“This project was a lot of fun,” said Eubank, who is the Texas state president of RESA. “Working together on this project was a wonderful way to showcase the talent of stagers in our group and bring about greater visibility for the profession.”

As an interior designer I’m a huge proponent of renovations versus tear downs. I’m not only a renovator for my own home and office, but some of my favorite design projects come from renovations and not new builds. This is a topic that is close to my heart, so if you are considering what to do with your home, and if you feel that your home can’t meet the needs of your current lifestyle, I say don’t give up on it so quickly. Your home can become the comfortable charmer you desire. The option to renovate can provide far greater benefits than you ever imagined.
