Warm Mist Front

The moment I saw a photo of this home in Brandon Stewart’s MOD 214 newsletter, I knew we had to feature it. I loved it’s shape — there’s something about the pitch of the roof with those 1970s contemporaries that throws you off just enough to make you look twice.

What I didn’t realize was that the interiors were just as amazing, and that the sellers of this gorgeous home in Prestonwood Creek had invested a lot of time and money in updating this home to please your senses and your wallet. And c’mon, guys! Who can resist having an address like 5905 Warm Mist Lane?!

Lennox Front

Just a block away from the much-famed Strait Lane is Lennox Lane, a street brimming with homes just as amazing and luxurious in an area that is known for its exclusivity. You’ll find some of the most unique architecture in this talked-about neighborhood — Roxbury Park — and 10427 Lennox Lane is no exception.

Lennox Living 1

Lennox Living 2

Originally built in 1983 and recently renovated, this home is contemporary without losing its Texas accent. So, where does this house say “y’all” instead of “you all”? Let’s start with the stone pillars surrounding the front of the home, the port cochere, and are echoed on the rear covered porch. The standing seam roof, which is copper and not your typical zinc-coated metal, also has a Hill Country flavor to it. The stucco exterior, painted a really fabulous blue gray, is 100 percent contemporary, though.

Inside you’ll notice the abundance of light right away. The huge windows throughout this stunning home let in oodles of light, making this home feel bright and open and warm — quite the opposite of many contemporary homes. The walls of windows also allow the outdoors to filter inside, too, and considering the lot’s 1.27 acre size, you’ll have plenty of nature to appreciate. The warm neutral paint on the walls and ceiling add to the home’s warmth, which is reflected on the gorgeous wood floors and accents. It’s a home for a collector or someone who appreciates interesting angles, that’s for sure. It’s listed by Ralph Randall of Dave Perry-Miller and Associates for $3.85 million.

With six bedrooms, eight full baths and one half bath, and more than 10,000 square feet, this home is an ample estate that has a completely different feel that what you would anticipate in a home this size with all of the amenities you’d expect. There are four living areas, five fireplaces, a fabulous outdoor kitchen, cabana and pool for entertaining, and a partridge in a pear tree (well, considering the private and heavily treed landscape, there could be a partridge in a pear tree, but we can’t guarantee it).

Lennox Kitchen

The wine tasting room, great room, dining room, kitchen, and family room anchor the first floor, while most bedrooms with the exception of the guest suite occupying the second floor. On the third floor you’ll find the game room and media room and exercise area, as well as a bathroom.

There are some really fantastic finishes in this home, especially the immense and curvy island in the very contemporary kitchen, which makes a great place for gathering family during the holidays. Imagine everyone drinking some wine, preparing dinner together, sharing stories, swapping photos … it’s just a vision. And it’s spacious, too, considering the breakfast area and the huge lot of cabinets. You’ll find, of course, state-of-the-art stainless steel appliances throughout this kitchen, and a heck of a vent-hood, too.

Lennox Master Lennox Master Bath

Another really fun feature in this home is the master bath tub. This is the first time I’ve seen a stainless steel tub in a listing, and I love its visual impact. The bathroom is where you’ll also notice the complete lack of window covering throughout the home. Considering the heavily wooded lot, there’s no need to put in blinds, shutters, shades, or curtains. You could, but considering how much light you get from these double-pane windows, why would you? There’s a gorgeous balcony attached to the master suite, too, which faces southwest. It’s an ideal place to have your first cup of coffee and really soak in the landscape.

Truly, this is a fun, unique, and luxurious estate for anyone who knows how to pronounce “fixin’ to.” What about you?

9131 Gunnison Front A lot of the homes with pools in Lake Highlands are just basically concrete holes in the ground. I look at them and I think, “Gosh, if that were my house, I would have done that pool much differently!”

9131 Gunnison Living

If you dream of living in Lake Highlands but want a custom pool (one designed by Harold Leidner perhaps?), then this is the perfect home for you. Just off of Skillman north of Walnut Hill is 9131 Gunnison, where you’ll find more than 2,300 square feet of living space in a contemporary candy-coated shell.

9131 Gunnison Dining

This home has been completely redone and every inch is just perfect. Built in 1978, this house has three bedrooms and two bathrooms, and two rear garage spots. It’s priced well at $330,000 considering the amount of elbow grease that went into this home prior to it hitting MLS.

9131 Gunnison Kitchen

In the living room there is a vaulted ceiling with a gorgeous fireplace and hardwood floors. French doors open to the backyard, where your perfect pool and landscape will be built. From there, you can check out the kitchen, which features stainless appliances, a huge island, and a breakfast nook with another pair of French doors.

9131 Gunnison Breakfast

Upstairs is the master suite which has a huge window that overlooks the backyard. This is a wonderful space that can fit oversized furniture with plenty of elbow room left over. A vaulted ceiling makes the whole room feel even bigger, and of course, there’s a ceiling fan, too.

9131 Gunnison Master

The master bath has a huge shower with fresh tile, but sadly, no tub. Still, it’s a great retreat with granite counters on a spacious double vanity that has tons of storage room. The vanity lights and mirrors add visual interest, too.

And the backyard, is, well, a blank slate. There’s a small deck attached to the home, but other than that you don’t have to fight any bushes or trees for your vision of the perfect summer oasis to take shape! I can’t wait to see what you build!

Happy Friday! It’s wedding season, so I know a lot of you are headed out of town. I’ll keep things short and sweet: This house is amazing, you’re going to love it, and someone is going to buy it before you can get your checkbook out.

7210 La Vista Living

This gorgeous German contemporary at 7210 La Vista is listed by Scott Carlson for $549,000. It has four bedrooms, three full baths, more than 2,700 square feet indoors, and it is the ideal home for preschool-aged kids considering the ample playroom and the schools (Lakewood/DISD).

7210 La Vista Dining

Built in 1949, this home looks like its a traditional on the outside, but indoors is another story entirely. Everything is sleek and modern, including the gorgeous floors and brand-spanking-new windows. The walls are fresh and white, making the whole first floor light up.

7210 La Vista Kitchen

The kitchen is amazing, too. It has European-style cabinetry, stainless appliances, and plenty of room for preparation. There’s a breakfast bar, too, and while it’s a galley style with no island, this commissary is anything but cramped.

7210 Master Bath

The master suite is large and light, and you’ll absolutely love the tile in the bathroom. Another great feature of this home is the fantastic outdoor space, which includes a balcony upstairs with room to move around, and a patio downstairs with a fabulous modern trellis.

7210 La Vista Backyard

Need plenty of covered parking? There is an attached two-car garage and a second, detached garage. I say used the detached one for storage and keep the attached one clutter-free! Great idea!
