We can’t think of a better way to kick off the year than with this drop-dead-gorgeous Highland Park modern French chateau at 4441 S. Versailles Avenue. Joan Eleazer with Briggs Freeman Sotheby’s International has recently listed the luxurious mansion for $8.495 million.

And we do mean luxurious. Built as a spec home in 2008, it combined the talents of builder Christine Goff, architect Will Snyder, and interior designer Ann Schooler, to create a flawless three-story, 11,698-square-foot home that has everything you could possibly imagine — and then some. Now if that is not enough pedigree let’s add another ingredient into the mix — sellers with extraordinary taste.

You simply must see the colors in this model if you, like me, are a fan of soft, subtle interiors — apricot, French blues (my heart is beating), gary-green and aquas. Ann Schooler of Schooler, Kellogg & Company says she chose these tones to help blend the traditional aesthetic to the contemporary common areas in the building. Faux-finishing most of the unit’s walls with Barry Martin’s faux finishes and laquer, silver tea paper and other applications completely changed the genre. Is that a traditional wood dining room table that you might see in a well-bred Highland Park home? You bet it is!
