Within hours of this Monticello beauty hitting the market, I started typing it up for my Friday Five Hundred. The M Streets cutie couldn’t be more darling if it tried! The dramatic entryway is just the beginning for this four-bed, three-and-a-half-bath home in the M Streets neighborhood. As you walk in the front door of 4418 Somerville Ave., the carefully selected design features immediately draw the eye upwards to the impressive chandelier and 22-foot ceilings. The floating staircase is another subtle cue that emphasizes the height of the home while also tying the two levels together with a seamless flow.

“We worked hard to save that 42-inch oak tree in the front yard,” said Jeff Dworkin, principal at CandysDirt.com Approved Builder JLD Custom Homes. “The home was set back an additional 10 feet to minimize the damage to the tree roots. Gravel with stepping stones was used approaching the door, not concrete, to have a pervious cover.”

5509-miller-ave-dallas-tx-1-High-Res-1The traditional open house may net a lot of leads for agents and brokers, but it doesn’t do much else. How do you generate buzz, create interest, and show off a home’s unique character? With art, of course.

That’s the idea behind Urban Scene, the Dave Perry-Miller group that fuses art, charity, and real estate through its trademark gallery events. Their next one, which will feature a brand new home in the M Streets, is from 6 to 10 p.m. tomorrow, with a portion of sales from local artists going to Wipe Out Kids’ Cancer.

M Streets Tudor Sees Remarkable Transformation | CandysDirt.com

I’ve fallen head over heels for a 1928 M Streets Tudor, and I know you will, too.

Located at 5350 Monticello Ave. in the coveted Greenland Hills neighborhood, this stunner was taken to the studs for a whole-house renovation that reimagined every space and expanded the footprint to five bedrooms, four bathrooms, two living areas, and 3,497 square feet on two stories.

“This house has all the charm and character of an old home—something that can’t be re-created with new construction—plus the functionality and amenities of new construction,” said Minnette Murray with Minnette Murray Properties, who is representing the property. “I love the 9-foot ceilings throughout, custom finishes, the perfect floorplan, and outdoor living options. This is an amazing house.”

The renovations were designed by renowned Dallas architectural firm Stocker Hoesterey Montenegro, and the quality shows through in high-end finish outs and details everywhere.

One of the challenges of older homes is a lack of space and too few bathrooms. This house solves all that with remarkable style and era-appropriate updates. I can’t wait to show it to you.

6030 Mercedes MStreets Ext

I have to admit, I might very well pull myself out of Preston Hollow and plunk down in Lakewood for the right home on Mercedes Ave. Whilst perusing this angel at 6030 Mercedes, heart of the M Streets, Stonewall Jackson Elementary, perfectly sited between Greenville and Abrams, I came home and dreamed about living on Mercedes Ave.

Course, then, I’d have to get a car to match the street name.

Bachelorette JoJo Fletcher and her betrothed are nearby (not right here, of course) as is Angela Hunt and a host of fun people. Then, you drive a little east on Mercedes, and the homes grow in majesty, the yards expand, while all retaining tremendous character and symmetry, all of them, old and new. Hold their own against Preston Hollow or Highland Park 24/7. The entire street is a “Please Don’t Eat The Daisies” dream neighborhood of perfectly sized Tudors with manicured lawns, huge trees, and great green backyards beckoning for a party.
