A Lake Worth Retreat with Movie Magic and a Hollywood Credit

Does this house look like the Hamptons?

In the 2024 movie Holiday in the Hamptons, the main character, Jade Lewis, returns to her grandfather’s Hamptons home. The light drama and second-chance love story in this holiday feel-good flick takes place on a wooded property, and…

Plot twist! The house for sale now at 9886 Lake Haven Circle has had a brush with fame. It’s actually a movie star. Scenes from Holiday in the Hamptons, starring Eric Roberts and Ashley Brinkman, were shot here in northwest Fort Worth, giving this property a rather glitzy resume. With lush trees like this, who would know if it was the Hamptons or Fort Worth? Just a little movie magic, glossed up with trees and a nearby lake.

“The trees are amazing,” said listing agent Ginger Trimble Knox with Ginger & Associates. “It’s very much like living in a tree house. It’s made for people who enjoy the outdoors.”

Lake life, whether in the Hamptons or Fort Worth, can be an escape.

Lake Worth Appeal

A canopy of mature trees and water access are part of the reason this 1949 retreat was captured on film, but it’s also a great place to be if the North Texas traffic and mayhem get to be too much. Believe me, trading in that chaotic urban racket for a quieter life near Lake Worth can rid people of a nervous twitch, clenched jaw, or pounding headache.

“You’re actually 15 minutes from Fort Worth, but you feel like you’re hours away,” Knox said. “You don’t feel like you’re close to a city. That’s always been the appeal of Lake Worth.”

Not only is the daily hum of life more peaceful, but the neighbors who trot by during morning coffee at 9886 Lake Haven Circle often walk by on four legs and are not going to argue about minutia. Knox said the area is full of deer, wild turkeys, possums, raccoons, and foxes.

“There’s a ton of wildlife,” she said. “Of course, a lot of people fish on the lake.”

The neighbors occasionally drop by.

She’s quick to point out that this house does not sit on the lake, but there is access to Lake Worth if you launch your kayak into the stream that connects to the lake.

“It’s a big piece of land, and then you go to the water’s edge and hop in your canoe,” she said. “The house is made for people who love the outdoors.”

Nip and Tuck

Originally, this 2,432-square-foot home was a city-owned lease property. It has been expanded and renovated over the course of its 77 years. Just like many Hollywood stars, there’s been a little work done. The bi-level design includes four bedrooms, two baths, and a walk‑out basement that opens toward the shoreline.

“It has a lot of the original characteristics of the house, but typical of many of the houses on the lake, it’s been updated,” Knox said.

The house was built in 1949, but it’s had a facelift from time to time.

Within the past five years, the kitchen has been updated with stainless steel appliances, granite countertops, a farmhouse sink, and under-cabinet lighting. The main-floor layout is now an open design, featuring the kitchen, a living space with an oversized fireplace, two bedrooms, and a bathroom.

Treetop views are included in the sales price.

Downstairs are two more bedrooms, the second bath, a bonus room, and a second living space with a second fireplace. The house is filled with personality. Some might even call it quirky. For instance, it’s got antique doors installed throughout.

An open floor plan connects the kitchen area and the living room.

Red Carpet Optional

It does take something special to be noticed by movie makers, and this house has received its 15 minutes of fame. What it needs now is a new owner, and that owner won’t have to pay the price of a house in Hollywood or the Hamptons since it’s listed at $475,000.

The trees come with an updated 1949 house.

The movie was released on DVD last year, but those wanting to see the location without the Hollywood-style glam have a chance. Knox is holding an open house from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on June 13. The house stands ready for its close-up.
