Cul-de-Sac Crestwood Cottage

Anyone who reads these pages knows my fondness for the charming, somewhat quirky Westside enclave of Crestwood. And 415 Crestwood Drive has already made a small cameo appearance in CandysDirt.com when Briggs Freeman Sotheby’s did a mega open-house-a-thon nearly a year and a half ago, when they opened more than 100 properties in every price category in their extensive portfolio. The one photo, an interior shot, didn’t reveal the irresistible curb appeal of this discreet stone cottage.

The sprawling 5,478-square-foot six-bedroom, five-bath house built in 1941 packs so much appeal we thought it deserved more than a lone photo. Since its appearance in late 2024, this unique property has been discounted more than 15% presenting potential buyers with a true value play.

The floor plan is spread out over two levels with three bedrooms at ground level, an elaborate, soaring, hammer-beamed ceiling living/dining room, a separate informal dining area kitchen, and a den on the ground floor.

The chef’s kitchen sports top-of-the-line appliances, generous storage, and a vintage random rubble floor.

The ambience is a balancing act between grandeur and rustic comfort. The den offers the latter with its stripped knotty pine paneling.

The primary suite is an independent retreat with beamed ceilings that crest at ten feet, an extensive spa bath, a spacious walk-in closet, and a private terrace.

On the lower level are two additional bedrooms, a game room, a media room, and a home office. In all, the residence is graced with three wood-burning fireplaces.

This home, sited on a nearly half-acre lot, backs directly onto the Westside Little League fields, providing a rare combination of scenic, uninterrupted views and a sense of seclusion. The lovely pool is an additional, welcome fillip. There are two garage spaces with an attached carport offering additional parking.

John Zimmerman of The Zimmerman Group at Compass RE Texas is offering 425 Crestwood Drive for $1.8 million.
