Mid Century Ridglea Condo

At CandysDirt.com, we’re all about sussing out hidden gems so it was with great pleasure that I was tipped off to a stylish condo by Briggs Freeman agent Caren Parten, tucked into quiet Ridglea Country Club Estates. Built in 1960, this 4500 Westridge condo is a building that has stood the test of time, with its Austin stone structure still packing contemporary appeal.

The 1,054-square-foot two-bedroom, two-bath condo is the beneficiary of a period-respectful update by New York architect John Wesley Jones, whose work in the same building we featured nearly two years ago. The living room/dining room combination benefits from twelve-foot ceilings with fortifying beams, with near floor-to-ceiling windows which open onto a private terrace. New, eternally classic, Saltillo tiles enrich the floors.

Adding interest is the split-level design with the primary bedroom located on the upper level.

Included in the design are architect-designed built-ins including the long sofa and storage unit, which partially conceals the efficient kitchen with new stainless steel surfaces and cabinets.

The second-level location of the carpeted primary suite offers a feeling of separateness and privacy. Though not mentioned in the listing details, the pink backsplash tiles and mixed porcelain look vintage. Cabinets and hardware look updated.

The second bedroom at ground level now functions as an office/study with smart built-in shelving.

The jazzy bath features mirrored walls, a purple surface and green Pirelli flooring.

Behind the entry door, you are welcomed by this chic little patio with wide planked mahogany planks and the sunny, welcoming front door.

The small complex is oriented around the community pool with water features. Difficult to imagine a better situation located as it is in a choice triangle between Camp Bowie and Clearfork, with quick access to Dickies Arena and downtown Fort Worth. Included in the bargain are two covered parking spaces. There is an HOA of $535 per month to cover building, grounds, and pool maintenance.

Caren Parten of Briggs Freeman International has priced 4500 Westridge No. 21 at $395,000.

Love the article! Correction about the architects: John Wesley Jones was the original architect of the Ridgleahaven complex in 1960 and the update design work was done by Brooklyn-based architects Brian Anderson and Parker Thompson.
