This 1925 Lakewood Heights Historic Tudor is such a great example of how you can preserve a historic home and still enjoy a modern lifestyle. Sure, you can do it on your own, but when you have a designer, it’s so much easier! Interior designer Abbe Fenimore knocked it out of the proverbial park here.

Fenimore of Studio Ten 25 sought to blend the homeowner’s inherited antique pieces with modern furniture and accessories to create one functional space. “The four-bedroom, two-bath home has undergone renovations over the years, but its true character remains intact with original hardwood floors, intricate crown molding, and beautiful leaded glass windows,” the designer writes in her online portfolio. “In each room, you’ll see bold colors and unique pieces that add unexpected personality while still retaining the classic charm of the home.”

The current owners have poured an enormous amount of work into this Lakewood Heights historic Tudor, both inside and out. They are in the final stages of a kitchen update, adding a fresh touch to the home.

Lakewood Heights was the neighborhood I landed in right out of college, and I’ve never strayed far. I could not have chosen better for my first rental property. I was lucky enough to be across from the centerpiece of the neighborhood, the nine-acre Tietze Park with its award-winning historic pavilion. The neighborhood is friendly and centrally located. It’s bounded on the north by Monticello, on the east by Abrams Road, on the south by Richmond, and on the west by Skillman.

Lakewood Heights was platted in 1914, and Sonnenthel Real Estate Company began selling the lots. With the end of WWl, returning soldiers looked to the leafy beauty of suburban East Dallas to settle and raise their families, and demand soared.

The height of construction occurred in the 1930s. The historic homes that remain are Spanish, Craftsman, and Tudor, reflecting the styles of the era. Since there is not currently a historic or conservation district here, it’s even more important to preserve these exceptional historic homes like this Lakewood Heights historic Tudor.

The owners also created a perfect outdoor entertaining environment with a full kitchen, a fireplace, and a 7-foot privacy fence, making it an ideal space for gatherings and relaxation.

As we are seeing with the creation and expansion of new conservation districts in Dallas, restored and updated historic homes are in high demand now.

Paragon Real Estate’s Juliette Bouchard has this charming Lakewood Heights historic Tudor at 6255 Richmond Ave. available for $949,000.
