On this episode of Dallas Dirt, host April Towery sat down with Matt Segrest, president of Alamo Manhattan, to discuss what multifamily and hotel projects the developer has underway in Dallas.
Alamo Manhattan has been credited with reviving the Uptown area of Dallas with the development of Uptown Marriott — a site that the company organically sought after.
“We’d have investors come to town, and they’d love Uptown. We officed in Uptown,” Segrest said. “So we’d always ask them where they were staying. They’d say at the Westin Galleria or Hilton Anatole. And we realized everybody loves Uptown, but there’s not a place for them to stay.”
They bring a unique perspective to site selection and design, influenced by their experience in Seattle and Portland. Segrest shares his thoughts on affordable housing, the future of Uptown, and the challenges and opportunities in the commercial real estate market.
