North Fort Worth Home Featured on ‘Extreme Makeover: Home Edition’ Just Hit The Market

A TV star is up for sale.

Yes, a star of TV that’s been not only on a major network, but also written up in print has a price tag of $825,000.

It’s a home. The lovely home on the edge of far North Fort Worth was built for a 2008 episode of ABC’s “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” and now is up for sale. The Mediterranean makeover is listed for $825,000, a lot higher than the average home price in the 76244 ZIP code. According to Zillow.com, the current listing prices average $397,396 in this northern Tarrant County area.

But this is no average house. This 3,450-square-foot home got a Hollywood-style makeover, doubling its size. It now includes four bedrooms, three bathrooms, a circle driveway, a two-car garage, and a dramatic two-story foyer, perfect for filming bachelorettes or a TV soap opera. Plus carpenter-turned-TV host Ty Pennington was all over the place, once upon a time.

Flood, Mold, And a Makeover

In 2007, a flood destroyed the one-story home owned by Amber and Peter Augustin. The result was ruined contents and a mold invasion. The answer was either raising the home a foot or leveling it and starting over, and neither option was in the Augustins’ budget.

Pretty boy Pennington and his crew replaced the one-story home with a two-story home that left the family of five slack-jawed.

“It took my breath away,” said Mom Amber during the TV show, calling it “stunning” and “beautiful.” Watch excerpts from the episode here:

The house has had its 15 minutes of fame and is on the market. It’s listed by Heather Bourland with Worley and Associates Realtors. The brick-and-stucco abode sits on a half acre, situated in the Keller Independent School District.

Stucco, Balconies, And Iron

Characteristic of a Mediterranean house, this one is stucco with arched doorways, balconies, overhead wooden beams, and lots of romantic ironwork. Downstairs, there’s an open-concept living area with a fireplace for those cozy nights of watching Ty Pennington on his latest TV show HGTV’s “Rock the Block” or catch up on how he landed in the hospital following the “Barbie” movie premiere. The living area flows into the custom kitchen, complete with butcher block island. What was once Amber Augustin’s photography studio, is now an office.

Upstairs are all four bedrooms, where updates since the TV show include new carpeting and a primary bathroom remodel. The backyard could be the site of a real housewives get together. It’s a park-like setting with lush landscaping and a patio with a fire pit, swing, and pergola.

Some people think that the home, which was remodeled as a part of a TV show, had to have been rushed during construction. However, Bourland said the home wasn’t built in a couple of days. Several builders came in and helped with all of the contractors, with about 100 tradespeople working on the home at once.

“I just want to make sure that people understand that the builders didn’t rush, they had the best of the best,” Bourland said. “Many hands make light work. It was not a rush job.”

So, why leave such a fabulous house?

“They’re in a second phase of their life,” Bourland said. “It’s time to go to a one-story. It just makes sense.”

So, the house is all there, much as TV created in 2008 — save for the theme rooms. Now it’s just waiting for new owners to create their own episode.
