Compass Agent Mohammed Jaber Understands the American Dream

As any pro can tell you, finding success in the real estate business requires not only an extensive skill set but also a tireless work ethic, an optimistic attitude, and a servant’s heart. After all, dealing in real estate is essentially dealing in the American Dream. Few understand this as well as Mohammed Jaber of Compass RE Texas, this week’s Inwood National Bank featured agent.

Jaber was born and raised in Amman, Jordan. When his parents were growing up Palestinian in the 1940s, they understood what it meant to strive, struggle, and succeed.

“My father went from having everything to having nothing,” said Jaber. “He worked really hard to improve himself, build a life, and provide me and my siblings with the best education and tools needed to be successful in life.”

This example of resilience, hard work, and dedication has influenced Jaber throughout his career as a Dallas Realtor. It’s these values that have enabled him to maintain such a successful track record in the North Texas region. In just under a decade, Jaber has been recognized with a multitude of awards including D Magazine Best Realtor 2014 – 2021, Top 500 Agents in Dallas 2019-2021, and RealTrend‘s America’s Best Realtors 2021 – 2022.

“Focusing on improving day after day is one of the values I hold closest,” said Jaber. “I really love to learn and I think that allows me to be a better version of myself every day.”

Jaber’s Journey

Jaber moved from Jordan to Dallas at the age of 16. He attended Texas A&M University, earning his B.A. in Information and Operations Management before obtaining his MBA from the University of Dallas. For the first part of his career, Jaber held high-level positions in mortgage banking. However, once he found real estate, there was no looking back.

“I’ve always enjoyed all aspects of real estate,” said Jaber. “I first got into the business to flip homes. Onice I got my license, friends and family began asking for my help. Before I knew it, I was a full-time agent.”

Jaber came into the industry during a unique time. The market had recently recovered from the notorious recession of 2008 — rates were low, prices were increasing, and activity was strong. The only hurdle was inventory.

“While the inventory was pretty good back then, it wasn’t excellent,” said Jaber. “We saw inventory levels get even tighter year after year, which meant I had to work harder to find the right home for my buyer clients. I was able to do so by relying heavily on my network of real estate agents and relationships in real estate to identify properties that match my client’s needs before they hit the market. This trend continues to be one of our main struggles today.”

In his 10 years, Jaber has experienced all manner of market turns. Ups, downs, price increases, and inventory decreases, all of which have defined the Dallas market.

Living The Dream In Dallas

Right now, Jaber lives in Kessler Park in Oak Cliff.

“I really love it there,” said Jaber. “There’s so much to enjoy from the historic homes to the unique hilly topography, the diversity of its residents, and the proximity to many areas of Dallas. Let’s also not forget the easy access to trails and Stevens Park Golf Course.”

Having spent his adult life in Dallas, it’s safe to say Jaber is a true North Texan. He enjoys all our area has to offer including world-class retail and dining, iconic sports teams, and one of the best art districts in the world.

“I have lived in several other states and other countries,” said Jaber. “And I truly believe we have the best overall package. I think the rest of the world is just now finding out, so the future for us is bright!”

Of course, the one aspect that makes Dallas particularly appealing for Jaber are the amazing homes he finds for his clientele. To him, the best part of his job is helping first-time homebuyers achieve the American dream.

“In other countries and cultures, you’re not always rewarded for your hard work,” said Jaber. “In this country, you largely are. If you work hard, opportunity is limitless. For me, this gives me a real appreciation for the American dream.”
