This One’s a Fairy Tale Home in Flower Mound

We as real estate writers often speak in hyperbole. We might call a home a gingerbread house — and though technically this would mean a saccharine or overly-elaborate facade, we mean it more as a sweet, compact home full of quaint detail. Think of Lower Greenville’s homes. Or take the term storybook home. Storybook is an actual architectural style made popular in the 1920s — notable for its dramatically curved roof lines of unusual texture. You’ve seen a few in Kessler Park. But we may also refer to a home’s storybook quality to describe a certain old-world charm a home exudes. I feel like using all our favorite words to describe this week’s High Caliber Home of the Week, sponsored by Lisa Peters of Caliber Home Loans.

Listing agent Phillip Murrell of Compass RE Texas has a fairy tale of a listing in Flower Mound at 4905 North Creek Crossing, a wide, country-esque cul-de-sac within the River Oaks Estates neighborhood. The home, which has five bedrooms and three baths with 4,962 square feet, is nestled among mature trees on two acres with a gated motor court.

“With so many trees on the property, you truly feel like you’re in the country,” Murrell says. “I actually stopped counting the number of trees after 100!”

Greeted by a grand circle drive, this exquisite custom home has a rustic stone facade and wooden porch beams that contrast beautifully with the modern metal roof. Expansive front porches and stunning stone masonry landscape just add to the charm.

“I love how the stonework on the outside is brought into the inside with accents around the fireplace and kitchen oven,” Murrell says. “It feels tasteful, authentic, and timeless. A Texas ranch that won’t go out of style.”

Inside, the sprawling living space is accented by custom wood beams, vaulted ceilings, and arched windows and doors. The ceilings are dramatic.

A striking chef kitchen anchors the home and features an eight-burner gas range, a copper sink, and an oversized exotic granite slab island. There are plentiful dining spaces with a breakfast bar on the island, formal dining just beyond the island, and casual dining that’s tucked into a cozy corner with the most beautiful honey-colored shutters I’ve seen.

Both the primary bedroom and the guest suite are located on the first floor. Entertain guests indoors in the hearth room around the grand fireplace or outside in the resort-style outdoor living space with a built-in bar and grill area, fireplace, pool, spa, and a custom water slide.

And talk about a man cave. The estate features three private garages capable of housing 16 vehicles.

Phillip Murrell of Compass RE Texas has listed 4905 North Creek Crossing for $1.995 million.
