These Cali and Hawaii Homes Battle Over Curb Appeal

What

My two favorite states are California and Hawaii. They both have a distinctive “curb appeal.” My family has taken multiple trips to Cali and spent two-and-a-half glorious weeks in Hawaii, and if we had the means, we would move to either of those states in a heartbeat.

Since I am the type of woman who always likes to consider her options, I thought I would check out a listing in each state and see if they could lure me away from dear old Tejas.

So let us make like a bread truck and haul our buns to California.

The Land of Fruits and Nuts

I found this little beauty located at 121 W Elm Ave, Fullerton, California. This home is just over 1,100 square feet and has two bedrooms and one bathroom. The owners are asking $499K.

The curb appeal on this gem is through the roof. It is not your typical white iPhone box that we have way too many of in Dallas. I dare say, the house looks absolutely charming.

Okay, the compliments end at curb appeal.

So this house is a fixer upper. They at least pulled a Michelangelo and painted the ceiling as well. I am not saying this is on par with the Sistine Chapel, but it does make me wonder how they were able to paint the ceiling while being stoned out of their minds.

I have two words for you: heebie and jeebies. This bathroom has seen some things. Poor little bathroom. Just by looking at this photo, we have seen too much. Let us head further west, shall we?

Welcome to the Aloha State

Now I know what you are thinking: “At least the other house had curb appeal and a curb.” Well, when you are dealing with a .28 acre lot, you really do not want to waste any space on a curb, silly.

This home is located on the Big Island at 94-6351 Pele St, Naalehu, Hawaii. It has a 100-square-foot bedroom with an attached 100-square-foot covered lanai. The 100-square-foot covered kitchen and dining is located downstairs next to the covered 100-square-foot bathroom/shower/boudoir vanity. The owner is asking $159K.

Before you start rolling your eyes, take a look at how great this place is.

This slice of heaven grants you views of not just the mountains but also the ocean. It is truly the best of both worlds.

If you do not want to cook using propane, that is fine. The land comes with papaya, banana and avocado trees. Be sure to bring your own blender.

No heebie jeebies here.

They are throwing the rainbow in for free!

Now, to be honest, neither property has been able to lure me away from my current homestead, but that hut in Hawaii would make for a sensational she shed. If I had a spare $159K, I would pack my grass skirt and be on my way.
