Sure, homes with residential elevators are common in the Park Cities area. But what about the suburbs of Dallas-Fort Worth?

As people move to larger multi-story homes in the suburbs, installing a residential elevator provides value in forward-looking investment and safety, especially if the home will be kept through retirement for aging-in-place.

According to RetirementLiving.com, the average home elevator installation can cost around $19,000 to $20,000, depending on the type of elevator and its purpose.

Several D-FW companies specialize in selling, installing and servicing residential elevators. They come in roped hydraulic drives, winding drum drives, pneumatic vacuum drives, counter-weight chain drives, or gearless drives.

The Case for Residential Elevators

Joe Williams, CEO and founder of Dallas’ Elevating Systems, has advocated elevator installations in homes for safety’s sake in 2014.

“Elevators are actually 20 times safer than escalators,” Williams told CandysDirt.com. “And people are putting them in their homes because so many accidents happen on stairs.”

RetirementLiving.com estimates installing a residential elevator also increases home values by 10 percent or more.
