Share News:

Millennials are blamed for a lot. Millennials killed Applebees, the diamond industry, cable TV, and the power lunch, but you know what they may have improved? The home building industry.

John Szczsponik

Not that it wasn’t great already, but John Szczsponik, founder of Millennial Design + Build definitely brings some fresh thinking to the custom home market. His brand focuses on making the home building process a more quality-driven, transparent, efficient, and cost-effective experience. That’s reason enough to highlight Szczsponik’s Millennial Design + Build in our Dallas Builders Association Member Spotlight.

Find out more about Millennial Design + Build as the CandysDirt.com staff highlights some of the spectacular members of Dallas Builders Association right here, asking these consummate professionals all about their business as a way to brag on the many quality, trustworthy builders in the North Texas area that can count themselves among their peers in the Dallas Builders Association:

What location or area do you primarily build in? What about the location makes it especially attractive?

We are focused on current and future growth we see in the Frisco, Prosper, and Southlake area. These areas provide a strong economic footprint, great school districts, new mixed-used developments, and corporate relocations. The perfect recipe for areas in demand for new home construction.

What’s your go-to architectural style? Traditional? Contemporary? Old World? Modern?

We’ve been obsessed lately with the Spanish Revival, similar to what you see in Santa Barbara. It’s a style we’re passionate about due to its timeless design and warm details. Archways, wood beams, groin vaults, soft corners, barrel roofs, and stucco details make up this style of architecture. For this style, you need a detail-oriented team to make the style cohesive and highly-skilled artisans to bring all the elements together.

How does your company provide value to your clients?

Our Design + Build team has evolved to better accommodate our clients with a seamless build process of their dream home.

We recently started our first project with our own in-house 3D modeling, virtual fly-through videos, and BIM technology. In a short amount of time, it has proven the ability to greatly enhance the design process, customer satisfaction, and customer retention, as well as material selection, layout, and take-offs.

By offering a complete package of professional in-house interior designers, architects, and builders; it ensure the smallest detail hasn’t been missed and we can easily find solutions to the smallest of detail

Have you received any recent awards? What for? From whom?

We have not received any awards as of yet. We’re relatively new but we’ll get there. In this industry, we want to keep our nose to the grindstone, build relationships, focus on what we preach, and build some of the most creatively exquisite homes in the North Texas region.

Considering the competition, how does your brand distinguish itself?

We’re a team focused on making sure we take full advantage of the tools we have on hand by integrating new building techniques, improving our overall operations, and innovating our designs.

One thing I’ve learned is only a handful of builders make it long-term. To make it long-term it’s about staying relative and getting out of a comfort zone. On the daily, there are new advances throughout the industry and it’s all about your ability to learn, using that knowledge, and execute.

What does being a member of the Dallas Builders Association do for you and your business?

Being part of the Dallas Builders Association has helped our business in many ways. The level of customer service and support they provide is outstanding. They have the training and tools that keep our team up to date on our industry.

We have always received quick replies that are kind and very helpful. If they don’t have the immediate answer they always get back to us with the resources we will need.

What is the biggest challenge you face in the current market? What are you doing to overcome it?

The biggest challenge we face is competing with builders who have brand exposure and a reputation in the industry. It’s something that will come with time. And to overcome some of these challenges we are solely focused on creating a unique business model that values change and strong operations.

Our team combined has built more than 85 homes in the D-FW area. Having a client visualize their product through function, flow, and form before breaking ground on a project is exciting for the client. Virtual reality renderings are something we will also be releasing to new clients in the coming year.
