Art at the Parc Showcases Local Talent Beyond Gallery, Museum Walls for Renters

As a way to bring social connectivity and a sense of community to residents, rental apartments in Dallas are tapping into the city’s burgeoning art scene by hosting local artists to showcase their talents beyond the walls of museums and galleries. It’s an unconventional idea brought on by the city’s soaring reputation as an arts destination.

Case in point: an upcoming exhibit at Parc at White Rock, featuring works by Edward Vazquez, Merritt Maya, Erin Buck and Dilrani Kaur, among others, called Art at the Parc. The event will take place Saturday, Dec. 10, from 5-8 p.m. at the Parc’s clubhouse, 7545 E. Northwest Hwy.

“The arts and culture scene has been exploding in Dallas, so we created Art at the Parc to bring some of that vibe and influence into the nearby suburbs, where Parc at White Rock is located,” said Kristen Gucwa, vice president of national lease-up operations and marketing for Richman Signature Properties. “We feel strongly about offering residents a mix of cultural, arts, and lifestyle-oriented events with a focus on social connectivity—we thought there was no better way to do this than by also supporting the Dallas arts scene and providing a place where local artists can showcase their work and gain exposure within the community.”

Gucwa said she’s noticing their residents want something more than just an apartment with nice amenities. In recent years, millennials and Gen Xers—their main residents—are particularly in search of social connectivity when finding a home.

“Through Art at the Parc and many more lifestyle-centric events and programs, we hope to build a sense of community for our residents that complements the surrounding areas and emulates the culture of Dallas,” she said. “We know that the trend of offering arts- and culture-driven socials are key to creating a sense of community and connectivity for our savvy residents, and this is something we’ve implemented at all our Richman Signature properties nationwide.”

Art at the Parc will include an eclectic blend of local artists to showcase their galleries in the The Parc’s 7,000-square-foot clubhouse. Three will in attendance, and each artist has four to six pieces of artwork to display.

“The Dallas arts scene is one that is up-and-coming and thriving with the support of young people—it’s not yet like New York City’s arts scene, but in recent years (and as more and more millennials and Gen Xers make their way to the Big D for new job opportunities), the city is starting to see a higher demand for more cultural experiences,” Gucwa said. “We’ve seen things like the addition of the Nasher Prize for sculpture, the opening of many art galleries, and more micro-grants being offered to up-and-coming artists by the Office of Cultural Affairs.”
