As the saying goes, “If you have to ask, you can’t afford it.”

That’s how I felt when I contacted Susanna Gorski, the Williams Trew Realtor who is marketing this incredible Dilbeck. I figured, considering the sought-after location and how beautifully preserved this historic property is, I was about to get sticker shock.

But instead, I was in for a surprise. The sunny driveway, verdant lawn, mature trees, clay tile roof, and adorable turquoise accents just grab your attention. It reminds you of the old motor court hotels doesn’t it? There’s a good reason for that! While this home has great drive-up and tons of personality outside, it’s what’s inside that will floor you.

As far as amenities go, golf courses are on the way out in favor of low-maintenance, family-oriented splash pads and hike and bike trails. But for this lover of the links, there’s nothing quite like having a view of a lush, well-manicured fairway. For that reason, this 1970s soft contemporary in the beautiful Tarrant County suburb of Westover Hills has my heart.

Of course, the interiors have been completely updated and are absolutely luxurious, so that is a bonus. Jump to see inside this lovely listing from Williams Trew’s own Martha Williams.

Jane McGarry sold her gorgeous West Fort Worth hacienda in July and plans to build a new, smaller version nearby.

“I just closed on a West Fort Worth lot a couple of weeks ago,” said North Texas TV legend Jane McGarry, who now blogs at realjane.net. “I am drawing up floorplans for the new house right now and I hope to build a smaller, less expensive, low-maintenance version of my Westover Hills home I sold in July, the perfect baby boomer ‘down-sizing’ house.”

I saw this home pop up in my search today, it’s first day on the market, and I was stunned. In Ridgemar, a fantastic West Fort Worth neighborhood, you can get this totally remodeled 1960s ranch with three bedrooms, two full baths and one half bath, more than 2,400 square feet, and a whopping 0.39 acre lot for $380,000. You’d pay at least $400K for that in a comparable Dallas neighborhood!

Just goes to show that our wonderful neighbors to the west have some great deals. Maybe it’s time to move to Cowtown?
