Spacious, Stylish Forest Hills Home Tops Our Dallas Open Houses Roundup |

The Forest Hills home at 8423 Santa Clara Dr. is one of our three features open houses this week.

We love bringing you an insider look at hot DFW properties with our Open Houses of the Week column. Every Thursday, we pick three fabulous open houses in Dallas (and the ‘burbs from time to time) you shouldn’t miss.

This week, our houses range in price from $539K to $1.175 million. Let’s take a look.

Wilshire Summit Home |

If a fabulous East Dallas location is on your future home checklist, make time to see our Thursday Three Hundred, near East Mockingbird Lane and Skillman Street in the Wilshire Summit neighborhood.

The home at 4217 Concho St. sits just 2.6 miles from the west shores of White Rock Lake and 5.4 miles from downtown Dallas. It’s close to pretty much everything awesome in central and East Dallas. Bonus: it’s situated in the Stonewall Jackson Elementary attendance zone, which earns a “10” out of 10 from Great news for families looking for a first home.

This house has two bedrooms, one bathroom, and 1,170 square feet on one story, built in 1941. The property is updated with a new kitchen but retains lots of character and style from that era. It’s got a small footprint, but makes the most of the square footage with a smart floorplan and lots of natural light to make it feel even bigger.

Elmdale Front

Sometimes I love it when a family lists their home with tons of personal touches. For me, it allows me to see the home as it was intended — a place for a family to grow and make memories.

So when I happened upon this adorable home in Northwest Dallas, well, I was smitten. Located west of Midway Road and north of Walnut Hill is this cute traditional at 9921 Elmada Lane. The neighborhood, Midway Hollow, is growing in popularity with young families as it’s close to upwardly mobile public schools and outstanding private schools.

Elmada Living

This home, with three bedrooms and two baths, is a great size for a family with a couple of kids. It has more than 1,900 square feet and a great sunroom from which you can see pretty much the entire backyard. It’s listed by Mysti Newberry Stewart of Dave Perry-Miller and Associates for $289,900.

Elmada Dining

Some cute touches you’ll appreciate include the very cozy living room, the blackboard paint in the adorable kitchen (so cute!) that opens up to the sizable family room, wainscotting in the dining room, and tailored Roman blinds in pretty much every room.

These owners really threw caution to the wind, though, and didn’t remove all toys from common areas like many stagers suggest. That’s fine with me, because I can totally picture my 2-year-old playing in this space.

Elmada Sunroom

The backyard is spacious and includes a concrete patio that will be great for grilling and hanging out this fall and winter with perhaps a fire pit or chiminea, whichever you prefer. What do you think?
