Lower Greenville is full of houses in every single size and color. They run the gamut of original historic architecture such as prairie-style two-stories that have been through everything and then some, to newer construction that blends in with the historic fabric of this popular East Dallas neighborhood.

This listing, our Inwood Home of the Week, is in the latter category. This brick Tudor-style two-story listed by Catherine Blevens of the BBR Group at Briggs Freeman Sotheby’s International Realty is a complete, ground-up rebuild completed in 2016. The home is stunning both inside and out, and provides every amenity an active family could ever desire!

“It was a total gut renovation,” said Blevens. “It added modern comforts while still maintaining the classic Tudor look that is characteristic of the neighborhood. The down-to-the-studs renovation included all new electrical wiring, new plumbing, new HVAC and ducting, as well as new spray foam insulation.”

Richardson Heights

Certain neighborhoods tend to pop up frequently for CandysDirt’s Thursday Three Hundred round-up: northeast Dallas, Lake Highlands, and Richardson. But since I took the reins of this weekly feature a few months ago, I’d forgotten just how special the mid-century homes were in the popular Richardson Heights neighborhood near Arapaho and Floyd Road until a reader alerted us to his home new on the market. The 1961-built home at 629 Stardust Lane is a darling three bedroom, two bath, and one half-bath gem with 2,047 square feet. It’s listed for $375,000 by Ric Shanahan of Keller Williams Urban Dallas.

rambling Ranch

When you think about the residential architectural styles that define America, the rambling Ranch is one that immediately comes to mind. It’s the definitive 1950s home that many of us grew up in, so it’s not surprising a new generation is gravitating towards these traditional homes as they begin their families. In other words, the rambling Ranch is hip again, in a big way.

These homes have become sought-after for the same reasons our parents and grandparents longed to own them. They promote “a casual, family-oriented lifestyle,” according to our favorite reference book, “A Field Guide to American Houses.” They are also the first homes that were designed to promote the indoor-outdoor connection. Because architects like Cliff May helped to popularize the style throughout America, there are still plenty of them around, and we have a beauty for you today at 5349 Southern Avenue.
