Ask any builder and they will tell you that the most difficult product to design is the urban townhome with the master bedroom on the first floor. It’s a tough nut to crack.
Most homesites in the Arlington Heights area of Fort Worth — walking distance to shops, museums, restaurants and the nearly completed Dickie’s Arena — measure 50 feet in width. With a five-foot side setback from the property line you have about 40 feet of home.
If you want a townhome/duplex on the property then you are dealing with approximately 20 feet of width in which to find a space for — garage, master bedroom, kitchen, living. It’s quite a challenge. (more…)
