Bent Tree contemporary

I want this house. I know all we writers at CandysDirt.com could say that a few times a week, but this home at 5414 Harbor Town Drive in Bent Tree is so crush-worthy that I’m fighting the urge to stop writing and start moving.  A classic contemporary nestled on a half-acre lot, this 4,921-square-foot home at the Bent Tree Country Club 13th tee box overlooks rolling terrain, a creek, and a waterfall. This Harbor Town home is five bedrooms and five baths for $795,000.

Wood inlay walls and flooring, two-story ceilings, and a floor-to-ceiling fireplace wow you as you walk in and survey the large step-down living room. Hidden away is a giant 160 x 90-inch ceiling to floor movie screen with state of the art theater projector. (more…)

Munger Place

We’ll admit — we’ve been chomping at the bit for Saturday to arrive this week ever since the owner of our Saturday Seven Hundred for the week shared that her Munger Place home was going on the market.

This impeccable Prairie-style home at 5118 Worth St. is listed by Elizabeth Mast with Briggs Freeman Sotheby’s International. The 5,030 square foot home has five bedrooms, four full baths, and one powder room, and tons of the character and charm you’d expect from a home built in 1912.

The home is right in the heart of the Munger Place Historic District, and has aged gracefully thanks to thoughtful updates and restorations along the way — and it’s abundantly clear even from the curb, as you take in the large covered front porch with plenty of room for impromptu neighborly chats, or quiet nights taking in the historic neighborhood and welcoming community.

pagewoodThis week’s Saturday Seven Hundred near Pagewood Park may feel like a Midcentury Ranch straight from the Sixties, but in reality, it’s a well-done and impeccably updated 1986 Contemporary with plenty of space for entertaining.

The one-story ranch is located at 10819 Pagewood Place, on a corner cul de sac lot. With 3,204 square feet of well-designed living space, vaulted ceilings, hardwood floors, and plenty of windows with natural light make the open floor plan feel spacious and gracious. (more…)

AllenIt’s been said that your home is your castle, but our latest find in the Twin Creeks subdivision in Allen, that might just be literal.

Realtor Cathy Browne of the Browne-Douglas Group with Ebby Halliday told us that agents repeatedly have mentioned that the home at 1836 Walnut Springs Drive “looks like a castle,” so she’s embraced that thought, and is telling people they can “live like a king.”

Browne has the listing with Beth Douglas, and she told us that this home isn’t just lovely to look at — it’s also perfectly placed, right in a master-planned golf community with an amenity center, parks, playgrounds, tennis courts, basketball courts, hiking and biking trails, and multiple pools.

“It’s also right down the street from a top elementary school, so no more carpool!” Browne said.

And it’s not just gorgeous from the curb — this family-friendly, four-bedroom, three-and-a-half bath home has a versatile floor plan with multiple living areas and plenty of space for entertaining.

North DallasTucked back off of Preston Road, we found a North Dallas traditional that’s been completely remodeled from the studs up — and not one, but TWO kitchens, all for $765,000.

The three-bedroom, two-and-a-half bath home located at 12504 Sunlight Dr. sits on an oversized corner lot. Outside, it’s got curb appeal for days and mature trees.

Inside, an open floor plan boasts hand-scraped wood floors in the common areas and two kitchens. A stunning gourmet kitchen does the main duty for family meals, with its large island, quartz countertops, new stainless steel appliances, and large pantry, and overlooks a dining area and living room warmed by a sleek fireplace.

Mark AshbyAustin-based designer Mark Ashby has a reputation for creating wow-worthy interiors, whether he’s working on a Montana ranch or a sleek, modern city loft. And our Saturday Seven Hundred this week is a home that definitely got the benefit of that impeccable eye.

Realtor and designer Paige Poupart told us that her initial walkthrough of the home at 9031 Woodhurst Drive prior to listing impressed her in ways most listings don’t.

“As a Realtor and designer myself, I usually walk into a home to list it and can instantly pick out at least a dozen things that were done wrong, or need to be fixed — this one I spent a good couple hours in the house with the home owners and couldn’t find anything,” she said. “It’s like a magazine spread inside, every time you walk in the door.” (more…)

Now here is a home that could teach a few thousand builders some new tricks. A new home with smooth, clean lines, no turrets (clutching heart), no 10,000 foot ceilings, and even no “dust bunny graveyards” fake crowns. Let’s call it the “anti-McMansion”.

Indeed, I hope you are sitting down when you hear this: there is actually a front porch to encourage neighborhood conversation!

Still, 10136 Robin Hill Lane is brand spanking new construction in Lake Highlands, a huge Millennials hang out. Instead of the usual circa 1957 brick ranch, we have a farmhouse feel with a touch of Hollywood glam by one of the area’s hottest home builders, New Leaf Custom Homes.

Boasting more than 4200 square feet of family-friendly living, this home will hold it all: kids, dogs, even a mother-in-law or two! You get five bedrooms (one for each set of parents), four full baths, an office, both a media AND game room, formals and a knock out kitchen that spaciously flows from the living room.

The finish out is phenomenal, too: high (but not too high) ceilings, custom cabinetry, gorgeous contemporary light fixtures, beautiful hardwoods, and hardware.
