I will never forget the time I first looked at homes in this part of town, Midway Hollow, on Van Ness Lane, to be exact.

A Realtor told me that this was the kind of neighborhood where you come outside and see the elves dancing with little stars all around. This was in 1980 and I was in my early 20s, new to Dallas, and house hunting.

I had to agree with her: Midway Hollow was idyllic then, as it is now.

To put a more modern spin on it, the neighborhood around 3719 Van Ness is almost a replica of Ponyland, or maybe Paradise Estate. Any minute I expect to see Twilight Sparkle, Spike, Rainbow Dash, Pinkie Pie, Rarity, Applejack, and Fluttershy frolicking in the green grass.

This wonderful neighborhood has cradled this brick home since 1952, elves, ponies, and people. (more…)

While you aren’t likely to spot George Clooney walking his dog, our Inwood House of the Week at 6855 Lakewood Boulevard will certainly make you feel as if you’ve entered a Lake Como villa.

“It’s very European,” listing agent Scott Carlson with Briggs Freeman Sotheby’s International said. “I’m at Lake Como a lot and this house just captures the feel beautifully. (more…)

5706 Watson Cir IHOTW

Dallas has always been a hotbed of excellent residential architecture, and our Inwood National Bank Home of the Week is a perfect example of the sterling level of local talent. The architectural firm Domiteaux + Baggett are the masterminds behind this Frank Lloyd Wright inspired Preston Hollow custom home with a Palm Springs vibe. It would be a perfect location for a remake of any Rat Pack movie. We can easily imagine George Clooney and Brad Pitt hanging out by the pool at 5706 Watson Circle.

The 5,000-square-foot home is listed by Minnette Murray with Coldwell Banker for $2.75 million and we were lucky enough to get a peek at it this week.

Preston Hollow IHOTW

It’s not often you see a house as beautifully photographed as 7015 Currin Drive. When it popped up on our screen this week, we dropped everything and called listing agent Pete Ryan with Briggs Freeman Sotheby’s International to find out more about this three-bedroom, two-full-and-two-half-bath, camera-ready home in north Preston Hollow. It turns out the $927,500 impeccably renovated ranch has had so much press Kim Kardashian would be envious. Since 2015, the 1953 home has been featured in Domino, Bungalow, and Dallas Child  magazines.

Now this star is on the market. (more…)

4500 Bluffview Blvd IHOTW

The saying around Dallas is that when you move to Bluffview, you move to your forever home. Don Henley, founding member of the Eagles, and Kay Bailey Hutchinson, former senator of Texas, have certainly found forever homes in the neighborhood, so you’ll be in great company if you’re lucky enough to nab 4500 Bluffview Boulevard. Listed by Susan Baldwin and Ginger Nobles with The Nobles Baldwin Group at Briggs Freeman Sotheby’s International for $2.649 million, it went into MLS Tuesday, so we suggest you move fast. (more…)

Preston Trail IHOTW

Talking to Steven Rosenthal, who hangs his hat at Allie Beth Allman, is always a treat. It’s evident that he loves being a Realtor and he’s over the moon about 6009 Pompton Court, his latest listing.

“It’s the most amazing home you would ever want to see,” Rosenthal told me recently. I think that’s actually putting it mildly.

Built in 2001, this five-bedroom, eight-bathroom (yes, eight), 15,253-square-foot home in Preston Trails hit the market last week. It’s so close to Preston Trail Golf Club you could grab your driver, hit a ball across the street and probably sink it. Golfers, take note: This home is right up your fairway. (more…)
