Beautiful landscaping, towering trees and a flagstone path from

This hidden gem of a neighborhood in North Oak Cliff is becoming more and more popular it seems, with deals under $300K becoming as rare as the buffalo tenderloin at Fearings. That doesn’t mean there aren’t several great properties in Kiestwood, a fantastic nabe with tons of character and the kind of close-knit community you crave.

This particular home at 2848 Woodmere is on a huge corner lot and has pretty much everything you could possibly desire. Lush landscaping, tons of entertaining space, a koi pond, a pool, a lanai and a deck, plus a studio/workroom as well as a 2-car garage … The home seems to be just an endless amount of space!

Britt Lopez has done it again. She’s scored an amazing listing in one of East Dallas’ most sought-after neighborhoods. Not only that, this is one of the coolest little storybook Tudors at 710 Monte Vista Dr., with a great front porch and fantastic interiors. It’s also inside the Lakewood Elementary attendance area, a total bonus!

408 Byrne Front

Historic homes have many charming quirks that make them popular with people who are prepared to put up with the headaches they sometimes provide. To say that building codes have come a long way since the turn of the century, which was when many homes in McKinney’s historic neighborhoods were built, is a vast understatement. Still, when building a home in an area with character such as the T. T. Bradley subdivision, attention to detail inside and out is key.

That’s why this cute farmhouse at 408 Byrne fits the area like a glove!

8630 Angora Front

By now you know the motto of East Dallas’ weirdest neighborhood: “Keep Little Forest Hills Funky.” In this neighborhood that reminds most people of Austin, you’ll find tiny cottages and bungalows with low ceilings and wood siding. Some of them have been added on, some have been remodeled, and some have been renovated inside and out. But the neighborhood remains a bastion of diversity in taste and architecture.

That’s what’s so remarkable about 8630 Angora: It’s so very different from what you’d expect to find in Little Forest Hills. This two-bedroom, two-bathroom 1980s soft contemporary has high ceilings, big windows, and open spaces — all a far cry from the typical cottage lining the hilly streets of the neighborhood.

10811 Clearbrook Front

Lochwood is one of my favorite areas in Dallas because it has so many gorgeous, mature trees, hilly topography, and a stunning mix of architectural styles. I love the soft contemporaries, midcentury moderns, traditionals, and even the random colonial!

And it’s popular with families, too, thanks to the close proximity to White Rock Lake and nearby Lochwood Park. If this has been the neighborhood of your dreams for a while, well, it might be a little while longer before you find your dreamhome. In fact, Carrie Hill of Nathan Grace’s Olson & Hill team told me she was going to have a cute little home come on the market soon that was in my neck of the woods. That was two weeks ago. When 10811 Clearbrook hit the market this week, I was so excited to feature it.

Well, it was only on the market THREE WHOLE DAYS and now it’s officially pending. Crazy, huh?

This house is pretty much the sexiest. From the first time I saw this beautifully redone midcentury modern in Lakeland Hills, I was in love. Just positively smitten. It’s totally remodeled with everything you want including a brand new kitchen and it’s inside Richardson ISD.

And did I mention that it’s sexy? Because it totally is!

222 N. Montclair Avenue, Dallas, Texas 75208

As many of you now know, I’ve become obsessed with East Dallas since moving to Hollywood Heights. However, I occasionally venture out of my ‘hood and most recently went to the West Side.

Winnetka Heights, right west of Bishop Arts in North Oak Cliff, is a darling neighborhood that reminds me of ours. Originally included in the Midway Addition to the city of Oak Cliff in 1890, it was replatted as Winnetka Heights in 1908. Four prominent businessmen – L.A. Stemmons, TS. Miller, Jr., J.P. Blake, and R.S. Waldron developed the 50 square-block area as a prestigious suburb. Sales were brisk, with several millionaires building opulent Prairie-style homes in the first wave of construction. All four of the developers built their homes here, but only the J.P. Blake home at 401 North Rosemont (home of the Oak Cliff Society for the Fine Arts), and the TS. Miller home at 101 North Montclair remain today.

6102 Penrose Front

Looking for an adorable home that’s close to a fantastic area, has access to mass transit, is updated inside, feels large but not too big, and feeds into award-winning schools? Then you’ll love this Austin stone cottage in Wilshire Heights.

This is one of my favorite East Dallas nabes sheerly for the location: bordered by Mockingbird Lane to the north, Skillman Street to the west, Abrams road to the east, and McCommas to the south, this neighborhood has access to great amenities with fantastic architecture and is close to tons of retail, including the Lakewood Whole Foods. It feeds into Stonewall Jackson Elementary, J.L. Long Middle School, and Woodrow Wilson High School — all sought after, high-achieving, Dallas ISD campuses.

And 6102 Penrose, marketed by Dallas City Center Realtor Erika Warfield, is nothing to sniff at!
