Builders, architects and designers’ own homes — those are the jackpot of property listings for sale. That’s certainly the case with custom home builder Marc Marion‘s own Medical District home which went under contract nearly as soon as it was listed. The beautifully-done midcentury modern-style home on Stoneleigh Avenue has 2,538 square feet built certified-green in 2017. Attention to detail — that’s why this is your High Caliber Home of the Week sponsored by Lisa Peters of Caliber High Loans.

Marc made sure every single detail in the home — from the underlit cabinetry to the tortoiseshell handle on the shower door — was given great thought and the best materials for it. “I wanted every single space in this home to be usuable,” Marc says.

The three-bedroom, three and half-bath home near Cedar Springs Road and Inwood Road incorporates a contemporary mix of stucco, wood, and brick exterior materials that continues inside, giving the house a great warm feel to it. The large vaulted ceiling living room has backlit walnut cabinets flanking the linear fireplace, a wall of windows to the lush green backyard, and open floorplan flow into the dining area and kitchen.

One of Marc’s favorite parts of the home is the kitchen that features quartz countertops, a waterfall island with walnut cabinets and drawers, a matte porceline Calcutta tile backsplash, and dual sinks. Stainless steel appliances include a gas range, built-in refrigerator/freezer, built-in microwave, warming drawer, oven, dishwasher, ice maker, and wine fridge.

Built for privacy, the master suite on the other side of the house has a spa-like bath with a seriously huge dual shower, freestanding bathtub, and closet with custom built-ins. That sleek Walnut cabinetry continues into the bath with LED-lighted mirrors built-in among the custom upper cabinet storage.

We mentioned the huge master bath shower made of high-grade Calcutta tile, but doggos need their own shower too. Marc incorporated a large mudroom with sink, walk-in pantry, and a custom dog shower for his Border Collie Roxie. No pups? The shower is a perfect drip-dry area and boot rinsing station.

The backyard oasis is nearly ever-green with synthetic grass turf and drought-tolerant landscaping. It’s an energy-efficient home with foam encapsulation insulation, efficient HVAC, and a HERS index of 57.

Seller and listing agent Marc Marion has 5407 Stoneleigh Avenue listed for $769,900.
