There are two things in Texas that are assuredly going to capture my mother’s attention — a historic marker sign and a county courthouse. The third, a close follow-up, is a historic cemetery, but who doesn’t find those inscriptions interesting? County courthouses are one of the most recognized symbols of Texas with 235 historic ones still in use, the most of any state. Stan Graves, principal at Architexas and former director of architecture at the Texas Historical Commission for over 26 years, will discuss the beginnings of the Texas Historic Courthouse Preservation Program and how it has helped our great state.
