Brilliant design, flawless taste, and show-stopping details just barely begin to characterize our Inwood National Bank Home of the Week at 14225 Hughes Lane. This stunning North Dallas transitional home has a sophisticated charm you won’t find anywhere else. That’s because the talent behind this remodel from a few years ago was Rick Janecek, the creative director and lead product designer at Global Views.

If you’re not familiar with Global Views, it’s a cutting-edge purveyor of home accessories and accent pieces. They have the coolest furniture, lamps, and accessories you can imagine.

When a design mind takes on a remodel, we know the result will be something special, but this house blows us away. We are thrilled because often people would opt to tear down a 1985 build. This home is a prime example of why you should not. All it takes is a creative mind to update homes of this era, and boy howdy, did this house get one.

Janacek spent the better part of a year remodeling the house. The staircase is an original design and was built on-site. He blew out walls and brought spaces together to create modern, livable rooms with excellent flow. Then he designed doors, cabinets — pretty much everything you can touch.

The result, as you can see, is nothing short of spectacular.

“This house is such an experience,” Natalie Hatchett said. Hatchett and Becky Frey with Briggs Freeman Sotheby’s have the house listed for $ 2.249 million. “Beyond the prestige of the neighborhood, the elegance inside is unmatched, yet it has an uncanny ability to emanate coziness. Each room I walk into stirs a different feeling in me. I leave each one fully convinced that one is my favorite room! And with 7,347 square feet in this house, that is one big accomplishment.”

There are five bedrooms, five bathrooms, and rooms were created to serve dual purposes. For instance, the laundry room cleverly doubles as a caterer’s kitchen, essential in a house designed for entertaining.

It’s hard to pick a favorite spot or design element, but Hatchett loves the pecky Cypress ceilings and that fabulous staircase.

We’re head-over-heels about the kitchen. Two islands make for a quickened pulse. Add to that the six-burner gas cooktop, dual dishwashers, marble countertops for miles — we’re swooning.

One of the advantages of 1980s-era homes is a generous backyard. This one is perfect for outdoor entertaining with a lovely patio, huge lawn, and a sports court. Have Frey and Hatchett show you this gorgeous home along with all of the delicious details you have to see to believe, because as beautiful as these photographs are, there is much more to see!

Wow Karen! Gorgeous! Love every square inch. Love the painted white brick and black doors. Love that there’s no chandelier in the dining room. How refreshing. Would’ve loved to of seen a mirror or two in the dining room though. Kool laundry room. What a place!
    Luv. Luv.
