Brandon Stewart listed this midcentury modern when it came on the market back in 2014, and luck would have it that the buyers are now his clients as sellers.

And though we do love a time warp, we cannot deny that the sellers have done an exceptional job with updating this lovely Lochwood home, our High Caliber Home of the Week sponsored by Lisa Peters at Caliber Home Loans. We know it’s tough to be a buyer in this market, and if you’re already in love with this beauty in scorching hot East Dallas, better move fast and call Lisa Peters at Caliber Home Loans to get pre-approved today.

Of course, Stewart knows how we love a good before/after story, so jump to see what this amazing mid-mod looked like just a couple of years ago!

“The wife (Maria Ascoli) is a designer and she did all of the design work that you see in place today,” Stewart said of his listing at 10509 Evangeline Way. “The front living area used to be two separate narrow rooms with a wall removed during renovations.”
Today, though, it looks spacious and ready for a party!

“The striking entertainment center and shelving unit in the living room was custom-built from Maria’s design,” Stewart adds. “Hardwoods were matched and extended to make the one large living and dining space you see today.”
We absolutely love how open the 1,750-square-foot house feels now. It’s bright and stunningly contemporary, though we cannot decide whether we’d have more fun decorating the space ourselves or negotiating some of the lovely furniture finds Maria used. They all go so well with the George Nelson bubble lamp hanging above the dining table.
In all, there are three bedrooms, two full baths, and a gorgeous backyard that is perfect for parties year-round. And while we lament the loss of those original, atomic-era cabinets and formica counters, we are so in love with the brand new kitchen — well, brand new except for the vintage oven.
“A small eat-in kitchen was opened up to the current large kitchen with an island, quartz countertops, new appliances, and new cabinets, Stewart added.

Stewart is marketing this listing for $395,000, which speaks to both the growing popularity of Lochwood and the seller’s design talents. “This home is a great example of how to update a midcentury modern without screwing it up,” Stewart said.
